Rovers join the race for Onuoha

Rovers join the race for Onuoha

Rovers appear to have joined a three team race to sign Manchester City defender Nedhum Onuoha.

Speculation has been on and off all summer that Rovers would move for the man who was on loan at Sunderland last season and it seems that they finally have.

Two other clubs are in the race to sign Nedhum with QPR and Everton also submitting bids for the player.

The players agent confirmed that interest in Onuoha was high.

'I'm not surprised at this level of interest, because Nedum has proven that he's a very good player' Kia Joorabchian (yes, that one) told BBC Sport.

But with Rovers able to offer bigger wages than Everton at present and QPR meaning a total relocation for the defender would that put Rovers in pole position?

When glen told me yesterday that we were busy behind the scenes I was expecting a little bit better activity but it seems we are all guns blazing!

Would be nice to get Onuoha on board today, could be thrown straight into the mix on saturday, just in case Givet still has Manflu or Samba is still not ready.

Excellent, why couldn't we have done this earlier? As long as we can do better in the wage stakes than Everton this should be in the bag, right?
