Rovers player search could lead them to Stoke

Rovers scour for new resources has led to them the far reaches of Dundee, Serbia, Brazil and... er, Jerome Anderson's house.

But now it seems to have led them to Staffordshire and to Tony Pulis' Stoke City.

With Michel Salgado having something akin to a shocker at the weekend and Rovers short on numbers at the back it seems that Rovers have run the rule over Andy Wilkinson - genuine nut job and rock solid defender.

Don't believe me? Well believe the papers (yes, I know)...

The Daily Mail - are reporting - 'Blackburn manager Steve Kean is lining up a bid for Stoke defender Andy Wilkinson.

The 27-year-old has seen Robert Huth handed his right back spot since the arrival of Jonathan Woodgate.

Kean lost eleven players in the summer and is scrambling around for more.'

No day in court today Steve - time to get the players in.

The end is nigh! You know its desperate when you're going for Stoke's out of favour defenders! No disrespect to Stoke but if we want to improve we need to look for better.

There are a few clubs looking at him too. Will pay over the odds for a Stoke squad player?

Andy Wilkinson is a first class player and Stoke will be reluctant to part with him. We did ourselves no favours on Sunday regarding our reputation fransavarese, but believe me when I say that Stoke don`t deserve the name of street fighters that many choose to call them. Ryan Shawcross embarrasses even his most loyal supporters at times, but we are steadily building and as I am sure you will have noticed, we are bringing some class players to the club. Watch this space.

Kean has zero pulling power.... I actually think the Venky's are willing to spend a bit but nobody wants to play under the potato headed alco. Im not calling for his head just yet, but a smarter move of been to get rid of him the day after the wolves game and replaced him with a more reputable face. How can big Sam convince Nolan to drop down a league, yet we are having trouble attracting players to the prem? Something has got to change.

danny-rovers, i share the same exact view. i think money is less of the problem. kean is just not enough to to attractive players over, and it doens't look like he's helping himself at all

I don't see the problem signing Wilkinson if we are indeed after a RB. Stoke have been very good defensively for a few seasons now and he was part of that and probably still will be if we don't sign him. Woodgate will play 10-15 games a season if lucky, Upson maybe 25-30 games. Both injury prones.

Wilkinson has been a consistant defender in what is a very good defensive side. I would welcome him with open arms
