Transfer 1- Who is David Goodwillie

After a long, drawn out window, Blackburn Rovers have made their first official and announced signing, David Goodwillie

Fact File

Name- David Goodwillie
D.O.B- 28 March, 1989
Height- 5ft 9, or 1.75m
Birth- Stirling, Scotland
Position-Striker

Career

David joined Dundee United at the tender age of 14 years after a successful trial. His first professional contract was signed in 2005 with a end of year clash at the Ibrox his debut fixture.

A slow start to David's career at Dundee saw him loaned out to Raith Rovers for the 2007-8 season. A handful of goals and plenty of game time ensured Goodwillie returned to Dundee with vital experience under his belt.

2010-11 is the season David's potential started to sign, and scouts headed towards Dundee to watch the young Scottish lad. 16 goals in 37 league appearances, included a late winner against Rangers earned David the 2010-11 Scottish Young Player of the year award, as well as his maiden International Cap.

David opted to join Blackburn ahead of the 2011-12 campaign, despite strong interest from Rangers, an undiscolsed fee rumoured to be 2 million Pounds upfront, 800k in incentives.

Controversy

The Young Scottish lad is not without controversy. 2 incidents at nightclubs in 2008 and 2009 saw him pick up minor fines. With Venky's strong attitude which has seen Diouf on the outer, Goodwillie will need to clean up his act

Welcome to Ewood Park Mr Goodwillie!

Good signing I feel ! There is a but though - he's going to have to grow up fast and clean up his act as he carrys several charges of afray as I'm sure fans are aware . Draw a line under this and he should play his heart out and concentrate on rovers !

I am sure the lad will see this move as a fresh start for himself... we won't tolerate any of that nonsense here David!

I hope you're right Dommy. Still feel we need another striker, whoever that will be, remains to be seen!

At 5' 9'', does this mean the end of the long ball tactic?
Lancastrian1947
'End of the long ball tactic' - hmmm! Do we have tactics? After all, transfer plan A appeared to be Beckham, Ronaldinho et al and plan B is no-one at all (with due respect to Mr G- and I can hear the foul chants from the terraces already once he gets on the pitch!).
