Rovers pursue Portuguese winger Vieirinha

Rovers are looking to add PAOK winger Vieirinha to their ranks after making a bid in the region of £3.5 million for the player.

Rovers are hoping that Vieirinha will follow Radoslav Petrovic and David Goodwillie through the door at Ewood park after both of them have agreed personal terms and are going through the last stages of the transfer process (work permit and medical respectively).

Rovers will find out later on today whether their bid for Vieirinha has been accepted with the club looking to bring in several players as soon as possible before the start of the new Premier League season.

At last some good buisness coming in. I think taht after a very very slow start, we are finally coming into our own. We were never going to be spending £15mil on players as we needed ti get 4 or 5 lads in to cover the people who left so these players for these prices is good work
lostboyrover
enough persuing. The season is around the corner and we have not signed anyone...Get a move on!
sasman
I got a random msg the other day in my inbox stating we had a concrete bid for this fella, along with some other player beginning with M. Well done that man. Could be a good signing he's highly rated and fits the bill age wise.
ITSALLROVER
it does sound like we may be making some shrewd signing...hope it will come through SMOOTHLY. he sounds like someone you would need
DommyWalker
Be a good acusition but cnt help thinking we still need to be putting all our efforts in securing a top class proven striker at the highest level
glen9mullan
Sounds an interesting one, but from the bits I've read it's far from done - PAOK don't look like they really want to sell. Would be interesting to see if he's up to the Prem standard.
rossp2112
Completely agree with both Sas and Glen's comments. It's been a ridiculous transfer season so far with so much speculation and we need to secure a top shelf striker ASAP!
oziroversfan
So it looks like we have a striker with potential, a midfielder with a good backbone and potentially an option on the wing - is it, and I say this cautiously... all starting to come together?
Mikey Delap
Looks like he would be a good buy - but even if we sign this guy plus Goodwillie and Petrovic we will struggle if we dont sign a proven 15+ goals a season striker..... but lets hope that signing is on the way..... someone with a source please say it will happen !!!
ChorleyBlue
Goodwillie is going to be top class player
stevekally
Yes, no time for messing now. If we get these players in ASAP then it will show people we are willing to spend and will give us a better chance of attracting a proven goal scorer. Venky's have a chance to prove their doubters wrong, I hope they take it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-53Ety9oP3E&feature=fvst - Certainly get a feel a feel for the type of player he is from this vid. Exciting!
danny-rovers88
We need these three plus two more a center back and a center forward and no matter how much we go on bout a forward we need someone else who can do defense. its great scoring but if u keep a clean sheet u get points. The adrimal is getting on samba may (hopefully not) move on, givet is incompetent a cb so we NEED A CD nxt after these three.
the-one-and-only-mar
I think Kean has acknowledged that we need a CB, that we can be sure of... we haven't replaced Jones yet but we will.
Mikey Delap
i highly doubt we'd be able to secure a prover scorer
DommyWalker
Dont know too much about this guy, but hope hes a left winger and replaces the dismal MGP, who has been awful the last few seasons, time he got a kick up the backside with some decent compettion! As far as a CB is concerned, anyone know what happen to Mongongu??? He would be a class replacement for Jones!
LondonRover
mongongu apparently hasnt got a european passport so a work permit would be a problem. He applied for a french passport but is still waiting.
madonedale
will be great to see some good service in from the flanks
