'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Samba comes out of the corner fighting

Chris Samba has been quoted on the back page of the Sun this morning with a big story of how he is dead set on a move to Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side.

It's all about the Champions League you see and how he couldn't possibly be interested in staying at Blackburn when he can swan off to play for the France Under 19's Select X1.

So that's that then? If he wants off then there's nothing we can do about it?

Well that would be true if the story released, you know, held any water whatsoever!

Samba has furiously denied such quotes were made and that the story had been spun in traditional tabloid fashion.

Samba wrote on his personal Twitter account - 'The declarations about me are totally false - never said that.

'I'm a Rovers player and will never mention other clubs - it's disrespectful. Not happy right now.'

Club Reporter Lee Grooby even backed this up by writing on his twitter account - 'I was there, I heard it all, Chris never mentioned any other clubs, the Sun just put their spin on Chris's quotes'

Well done Fleet Street, sterling work as usual ;)

I would say I am surprised but...

Surprised at the poor journalism... or that Samba denied it?! Its nice to hear Chris being respectful to Rovers - I couldn't want more. And if/when he goes I'll wish him luck and hope that he goes to a good club.

...but we all know he will leave as soon as (/if) he gets the chance. And who can blame him?

Samba may not have said it in so many words, but when you read his Twitter account, you certainly get a feeling he will not be Rovers player if he is given the opportunity to move. When asked if he will be a Gunners player next season by Robbie Savage, his reply was.. 'only God Knows this'. It is a shame as he seemed very committed in January, maybe he has lost faith with the new regime but we can only speculate as to what he is thinking inside. Hopefully they will show him they mean business and convince him to stay... There is still plenty of time in the transfer window.

i really appreciate him coming out and making his stand clear. this is by no means a commitment to stay at the club, but coming out and say those things in the think of preseason would really hurt the team's morale...

Glad he's come out and said this. Everybody tends to believe the rubbish that get's printed in these papers.

good on Samba, great to see him backing Rovers. Noticed a change in attitude recently- is it too far a stretch to say this means he will stay?
retroflair31
Fair play to samba for saying something. Many players wouldn't.

Yep, decent of him to go public over this. If he goes, he goes - but at least he's not going to engineer it via the press.
