Latest - Petrovic having medical at Rovers

Rovers are shortly expected to complete their first summer signing after it has been announced that defensive midfielder Radosav Petrovic is having a medical at the club tonight.

Petrovic is expected to fill the void left by Jermaine Jones' departure after the player made it clear he viewed Rovers as his first choice to current club Partizan Belgrade.

The Lancashire Telegraph revealed just a short while ago - 'Radosav Petrovic is expected to become Blackburn Rovers' first significant summer signing after arriving at the club for a medical.

The Serbian international is expected to complete his move tomorrow, after a bid was accepted in the region of 3million, plus add-ons, by Partizan Belgrade.'

So we could have had Jermaine Jones for 10 million and instead we've got essentially the same player for less than half that amount.

Smart business boys and girls, we've knocked em but that's smart business right there.

Defo, he should be ok being a box to box man. As good as JJ was towards the end of last season I think this fella could be even better as he's young, good on and off the ball, a bit of a commanding presence at 6ft 4ins and he chips in with a few goals. Hope this one is confirmed very soon.

Some good news for once. I just hope it doesn't get strung out like the mongongu transfer.

If he's as good as JJ and is younger then this is brilliant. Let's get it done quickly so we can all have something to celebrate.

I wish we got JJ - but 10 mill was a bit too much... maybe we'll get him in the future. I hope this guy is as good - then we'll be laughing.

Lets wait till the transfer is complete before we celebrate and i mean shirt in hand, beside the manager @ ewood until then i have to say i just cant let my hopes be raised

Never seen this guy play, hope he is all that is said of him. Are we trying to get the tallest team in the Prem?

That will be great, as soon as it is confirmed I will be jumping for joy BUT then I realised that I should not get too carried away as he is a replacement for JJ, so in effect no new additional player coming in and we still need desperately to bring in a quality striker to play alongside Rochina. Having sourced one bargain, I hope Venkys aren't expecting to get a quality striker for a similar fee. There are several things I like about Roberts but Kean must not go on, game after goal-less game, selecting him. Accept the fact that he is no longer a regular striker and we just can not persevere any longer with him. Even if we do not bring a striker in, try someone already on our books. Kalinic should not be allowed to leave until we have a new striker to replace him.

Are we still in for Monogoonogonogonogonou?

9 Goals in 25 games for a defensive midfielder pretty damn good and it's a steal 3million for him powerful, strong and 6 foot 4 no doubt him and N'zonzi will be a formidable partnership in centre midfield....Mongongu deal is taking ages because he needs a french passport to be able to play in England (or something along them lines)...thats the only thing holding that deal back.
