One in, one out at Rovers

Rovers are getting the hang of this transfer merry go round thing with news coming out that Niko Kalinic is close to a move to the Ukraine and midfielder Radosav Petrovic coming out of Eastern Europe and in the opposite direction... destination Ewood Park.

Kalinic has been angling for a move away from Ewood Park since the end of last season but only backed that up with a request to move last week.

Niko refused to travel with Rovers to Hong Kong for the Asia Cup as he hopes to force through a move to Ukranian side Dnipro as early as today (a certain journalist is even adamant that Kalinic has been spotted in Ukraine).

The only sticking point seems to be the transfer fee with Dnipro wanting to pay about £4 million and Rovers wanting closer to £8 million.

Expect the clubs to arrive at a figure of £6 million in due course.

Petrovic himself is close to actually making an entrance into Ewood Park after Partizan Belgrade and Rovers reportedly agreed a fee of roughly £2.5 millon for the defensive midfielder.

Some are speculating he could be a Rovers player today but by the end of the week look most likely.

Either way, this move has some legs as we look to FINALLY be spending some money.

I am sad to see Kalinic go but it's the right time for him to move on, excited about seeing Petrovic though!

TBH i never thought we would get £6m back for Niko so happy days on that one. £2.5m looks an absolute steal for Petrovic, maybe the rest of Niko's fee might just pay for Mongongu with a little change left over? :-o

FINALLY! Glad this Kalinic saga seems to be over. Like a lot of Rover fans, I will be sad to see him go as I dont think he was given a big enough change by management, but if we can close to 6 mil for him, good business. Petrovic looks good, but im really hoping they pull off the Mongongu deal, he looks class!

Very happy with the Petrovic deal, but Kalinic moving on doesn't half raise the stakes on us getting hold of a striker or two!

o this is unreal we sell a striker for a midfielder o this really is the business of a tool lets sell a CF wat we have 3 to sign a MF wat we have 12 of them this is homoooo stuff we need a left back too badly olsson is not for that place any more and ppl if we dont sign in these position this year will be a continue of last year with a relagation battle straight away
27/07/2011 12:35:00
o and we need defoe
27/07/2011 12:39:00
if we get mongonu do not expect to get a left back becasue they will continue to push givet out there and continue to use martin o also. Someone please explain to me how Kean does not sign another forward. atm i would even take santa back as we only really have jr, thought santa was useless from the time he returned btw,
27/07/2011 16:11:00
I'm sure we will get another striker if Kalinic goes

£6 Million for Kalinic is brilliant, Petrovic looks a decent talent 6 foot 4 and very powerful he will be a great replacement for Jermaine Jones, I think Mongongu will sign eventually but that deal seems like it's going to be completed by the end of august at this rate! and I'd love to see Pa***** Cisse or Wellinton of Spartak Moscow join because in my opinion the only thing we lack is a prolific striker who can score goals, Formica looks a talent as well so hopefully if we sign Petrovic, Mongongu , Cisse or Wellinton and possible Honda then I think we can have an alright season BUT Venkys and Kean need to stop the talking and splash the cash like they promised to do.
