Benjani leaves Rovers

Benjani has left Blackburn Rovers after failing to agree new terms on a new contract at Ewood Park.

The news comes as something of a surprise as Benjani has been saying for weeks that he is on the cusp of sealing another year at Rovers after last season's debut season.

Even the club themselves were confident that the Zimbabwean was on board and has offered him fresh terms.

But it seems the split has happened as the player was not happy with the offer made to him and no resolution was forthcoming so a parting of ways has happened.

On reflection this probably works well for the boys in blue and white as Benjani was hardly prolific last season and would have only been a 4th/5th choice striker in the pecking order.

And to be fair when you are that far down the pecking order at Rovers that is not really much a testament to your ability ;)

Thanks Benjani for your efforts and more specifically for Liverpool at home in January.

Best of luck in his future endeavours.

Yep, I must say I am glad he has gone, he was injury prone and far from prolific, so perhaps this is the best eventuality for both parties. Thanks for the Liverpool performance though, although I doubt Woy will agree. Now we really need to start to look at bringing people of a better standard in through the opposite direction, but your money where your mouth is Venkys!

abit of a suprise that he dident like the deal offerd to him..if thats the truth? I doubt he will find another PL team rdy to give him a better deal - but still good luck to him, cant put him down on his work rate :)

Well surely they have to keep Kalinic now?!

does this mean we can get pavone stiker now

As i mentioned in the forum it's a shame as I can't fault his effort or commitment and at least he was happy to play for us. Surely the Pavone deal has to be pushed through now... Or maybe Raul??, stranger things have happened in football.

Does this mean we are going to join a 5-aside league, cos plenty more dead wood needs to go i.e Grella, but not much coming in yet, Talking to players is one thing but having them paraded in our colours seems to be the stumbling block, How hard can it be? Perhaps they are looking for employer refrences and waiting for the results of the Phycometric test? Nothing would surprise me. Good luck to the lad, he made a contribution with his goals against Liverpool which were a valuable 3 points when the season ended and we were still needing something on the last day to stay up
