News Update - Kalinic hands in transfer request

Rovers could be a striker down in the very near future with news reaching us that Niko Kalinic has handed in a transfer request.

Kalinic was used, shall we say, sparingly last season and his fall down the pecking order under Steve Kean was a source of much discussion amongst Rovers fans.

Some really rate him with his ball holding skills and strength whilst others feel he just falls over a lot.

But due to the lack of games it seems Niko has tried to force Rovers hand with a transfer request made just a short while ago.

Sky Sports are reporting - 'Skysports.com understands unsettled Blackburn striker Nikola Kalinic has handed in a transfer request at Ewood Park.

The Croatia international has been strongly linked with a move away from Ewood Park after finding himself out of favour under Steve Kean.

Kalinic is believed to be surplus to requirments in Kean's plans for next season and Rovers are open to offers for the 23-year-old.

Ukrainian team Dnipro are thought to have made an offer in the region of £4million for Kalinic, but Blackburn are struggling to agree a fee with them for the former Hadjuk Split ace.'

Will be sad to see him go but after such public snubbing at the back end of last season can he really stay unless big promises are made to him about his future?

Our only good forward leaves. But fear not! We have Benjani and Pavone coming in! *banging head in the wall*

Go Benjani :/ lol

Been on the cards, would rather he stayed even though he does fall down a lot lol. TBH though if we are serous about spending BIG on a striker then he would hardly play with the likes of Rochina, Formica, Hoilett, Dunn and fingers, toes crossed maybe Honda competing to slot into the "hole" behind this elusive marksman. He needs to play and when Kean prefers JR or Benjani then it's inevitable he will be off at some point.

The Pavone thing is on ice me thinks - widespread reports that Liverpool, Fulham and Norwich are also keen!

Although all is clearly not well I can tell you for a fact "SSN understands" actually means "One of our editors thinks it's an interesting story"

On last season's showings he will be no loss and 4m is more than we could expect to get for him. Good business if we can get anything for a player that Kean won't play anyway

I don't agree with him only being worth £4m. We should hold out for at least £6m or keep him. 'Dunn competing with Rochina, Formica and Hoilett' Please not, Dunn is not fit enough to play in the Premiership, he can't get back quick enough to defend when needed He should be on the transfer list.

Don't forget Nick Blackmann......cheers

Gutted. With someone alongside him, he looks awesome. I hate to think we'll not get to see the best of him. However, as said above, it's hardly surprising given how he's been snubbed since January. Not clever.

I don't rate him at he ain't strong enough and spends more time on his bum
cboyer
Not pleased he may leave, Dnt think he has had a fair chance, Letting young players go whilst keeping fossils is silly

I have to say I have never got all the 'he is great' stuff - he looks lightweight and doesnt score... yes he tries hard but that's about it. £4m is a pot of cash for this guy and if he wants to leave gt rid... As long as the money gets spent on a replacement of course !!!
ChorleyBlue
cant blame the guy, wasent given a chance last season.. and still got most of our goals :p i agree with who ever siad he isent strong enough.. but thats why you should play him with someone who is! He will score goals for whatever team he plays for... its a shame, whats more annoying is we dont seem to have anyone on the way in to fill his boots O_o
