Rovers release transfer statement

Blackburn Rovers have today released a statement addressing fans concerns over transfer policy.

The statement comes hot on the heels of media speculation that Venky's have been told to reduce the club's overdraft by the banks after a default payment and that the transfer kitty is suffering as a result.

With a lack of signings already causing unrest amongst fans the club have come out with a statement to clarify things (sort of anyway!).

The club statement, released on Rovers Official Website says - 'The board of Blackburn Rovers football club wishes to clarify its strategy of optimising the current playing squad in a manner which is sustainable and beneficial to the long term interests of the club and its supporters.

During the close season there is always a frenzy of transfer rumours linking every club in the land with a diverse range of players and we are no exception.

We will not comment on such speculation as it will only lead to further press comment but we can assure our supporters that we will only enter into negotiations with other clubs and agents on terms which are commercially viable and are within the market norms accepted by every other club, as we are sure our supporters would demand and expect.

We assure you that we will continue to explore all avenues to improve the squad for the sustainable long-term benefit of the club.

We are currently busy exploring the recruitment of a striker and a midfielder - and we fully intend to have both of them in place before the transfer window closes.

We will continue to make every effort to bring in the players we feel we need and we ask you, our supporters, to remain patient.'

So basically we're only negotiating what is acceptable to the club and we're taking our time.

How about a statement addressing the big issue?

This is all well and good but this sounds like cookie cutter business talk for trainee spokespeople!

i know its just the mirror is claiming the bank wont give us any money cause venkys aint freed up the 18 million overdraft they took on when they bought the club ?

Lets face it Venkys do not have the money or the inclination to spend large sums on quality players they were first talking about when they came .Me along with a few Rovers fans i have taked to ,are fast running out of patience . I fear for my club now - just like i have since Venkys took over . Hey if im proved wrong i will be the happiest guy here .

BFS out, John Williams out, Tom Finn out, Phil Jones out SK in, Myles Anderson in, Benjani re-signed, Formica and Rochina in Anybody notice a trend, experienced, valued individuals who could see through the owners BS have departed as has our most prized asset, they have been replaced by cheap/free party line followers. I don't trust Steve Kean or Venkys as far as I could throw them. Why wasn't JJ signed? Why hasn't Junior signed? Why does Samba want to leave? What's going on with Givet? If this is a harmonious camp I'd hate to see one that's not. All down to the owners and coco the clown Kean

What happend to "All signings will be completed before pre-season starts"?

I take stories from The Mirror with a pinch of salt but the fact that the Club come out with a fairly shoddy statement like this concerns me. I thought our debt was clear now?? Even if venky's do have to pay £18m we have the PJ money so we still should have transfer funds available so it does look as if Venky's are stalling. Not looking good IMO

It sounds like a Dick Turpin operation to me - I've got to echo BnW99's comments... not a happy state of affairs.
