Rovers ready to bring in Pavone

Rovers are on the verge of making their first summer signing as it has come to light that the club are close to securing the signature of striker Hugo Mariano Pavone.

Pavone has bought out his contract at Real Betis and has made it clear to his 'people' that he views the Premier League as his next conquest and Rovers have stepped in.

The Argentine was on loan at THAT River Plate side last season and bagged 9 goals in 32 starts.

The Lancashire Telegraph are Reporting -'The 29-year-old ex Real Betis striker has held negotiations about a potential move to Ewood Park as Rovers edge closer to making their first summer signing.

Pavone spent last season on loan at Argentinian outfit River Plate from his Spanish parent club, scoring nine goals in 32 appearances, but Rovers are now hopeful of snapping him up as a free agent after the player bought himself out of his contract in Spain.'

In other potential signing news, Rovers have definitely agreed a move with Monaco for Cedric Mongongu to the tune of £2.5 million.

It is now up to the player to come to terms with Rovers.

I can see the merit in this as it means we can spend more money elsewhere (i.e. on a premium striker). He seems to have played for some good clubs as well despite the River Plate debacle last season...

Unlike most I would be pleased with him and Mongongu to get the ball rolling! I would take a free Pavone over a £4m Roque on ridiculous wages....but who wouldn't? :D

I've heard of Pavone but don't know much about him TBH but as he's free I say snap him up. I still think we need a major Striker signing to come in as well. As time rolls on we still need that JJ signing or replacement in midfield sothe owners might be happy to let £8m go for Witsel if we sign Pavone for free.

well i been watching him on youtube he has scored some decent goals and can score from outside the box wich i havnt seen 1 of our strikers do for a while so he is deffinatly worth a free transfer, i have also just read that we are after signing someone called Dame N’Doye from fc copenhagen just looked at him on youtube and he looks realy good i think they want 10 million from him though but we do need to start signing players realy any news on a shirt sponsor yet ?

He should be given a trial to see how he compares to Roberts and Kalinic. I'm not sure he will be good enough for the Prem - but I've been wrong before.

Pleased with this capture, and think he will be hit

When are Venkys going to spend some real money on a quality striker .I would suggest they dont have the money ,or if they do are not willing to spend it.

i got to admit i am starting to get worried myself now

To be honest I can't get excited by this. Just another rumour like many before it. Nothing concrete. No actual signings. Another week goes by and we're still 'ready to swoop' or 'monitoring the situation'. I'm sick of it and just want to see us splashing some proper cash to bring quality players to Ewood. Is it friday that the boss-lady promised two new signings by? We shall see...

Ive gotta say that whether i am happy with tis signing will depend on the rest of our summer business....If were signing hm because of his quality as a second striker with a target such as defoe, Cisse eyc on the agenda then fine...if this is gonna be it then i am gutted...looks a good player but judgement reserved...for now!!
