Rovers being priced out of JJ move

Rovers and Steve Kean are exploring the possibility of other midfield options after becoming tired of trying to haggle Jermaine Jones's Schalke down.

Jones was a hit on loan at Rovers last season in the engine room of the Rovers midfield but trying to get JJ back for next season is proving to be an uphill battle.

It appears Schalke are, get this... asking for £10 million (or just under) for the permanent signature of the American midfielder in what appears to be a move to put off detractors.

£4 million fair enough, £6 million at a push, but £10 million?! Can I please have some of whatever they have been taking over in Germany?

And despite Rovers slow progress in the transfer market to date Mrs Desai, chairwoman of Blackburn, has given fans a little glimpse of deadlines by saying that new names will be arriving at Ewood Park in the next two weeks.

Desai told the Lancashire Telegraph - "We are in search of some good strikers and defenders and that will be finalised in the next two weeks. We are not running behind big names. Our selection would be a proper mix of young talent and senior players."

Anyone got a pen to make a note of that... within 2 weeks.

I can't imagine other clubs paying £10 million for him. Why didn't our club fix a price for purchase in his loan agreement?

If we have to pay this then I say move on - even Witsel probably wouldn't cost this!

thought you were buying Jermaine Jenas then...

FN1 - Schalke wouldn't put in a fixed price at a reasonable figure when we agreed the loan either...£10m = move on for me. Shame as I liked him but I don't wanna see us ripped off.

It's the problem with having money isn't it? Or at least being perceived as having money....

Massive shame. Move on.. I would actually look at Jermaine Jenas now! Surely we could get him for around 4 million? or perhaps a double deal for Krankjar and Jenas for 11m or something?

£5m is a realistic price for me. £10m?? Good luck on that one Schalke!! Might as well pay another £20m and get Schweinsteiger lol. Seriously though Witsel for £8m looks like the way forward then.

total BS!

What a shame. For me, he was a revelation once he played himself in last season. But of course, he's Schalke's player and we have to remember that they had a change in manager since he came to us, so their view of him has clearly changed. Move on; next target?

The drawback of a loan without a fee agreed before you bring them in, it can become distored by how successful a player is (or it's viewed they have been.) Not worth £10million so we move on, we've got to start signing players soon though as we're only being linked with players that are never realistically coming to Ewood!!

We will get over this loss
