Emerton backs the Kean and Rovers vision

Rovers longest serving active player has backed the club to have a better time of things than last season when the new campaign kicks off.

There have bee plenty of sceptics and doom mongers around Ewood Park since the takeover of the club last season but the man who should know more than most has backed Kean and his crew to get things right in the transfer market and with the team.

Emerton told the Lancashire Telegraph - "The boys obviously respect him (Steve Kean) and I think he`s got some great ideas so we`re looking forward to seeing what we can do under him next season. He`s got a lot of good attributes.

"It`s going to be an exciting year next year and I think there will be a few additions over the summer and I think they will be quality additions as well, not just average players.

"So it`s an exciting time to be a Blackburn Rovers player and a supporter. We need a few players who are of exceptional ability and I think they are going to deliver that hopefully.

"Obviously as players we`ll welcome that. As a player you always want to achieve good things and you want to be surrounded by good players, so the more good players we can get in the better."

Emo really came into his own at the back end of last season when we needed him most.

What's to bet against a strong showing from the guy eligible for a testimonial in two years time?

I am disappointed that a player I have a lot of time for can come out with BS like this. I am far more concerned than excited. We have lost the best centre half we had, our skipper wants to leave, our left back is taking us to court and already blew the whistle on back handers, our right back is 37 years old, Grella and Dunn need full time nursing staff. Jermaine Jones doesn't look like he's returning. Our forward line is appalling, we have resigned Benjani who is way, way past his best, we have JR who is trier but hardly a goal machine, we have Kalinic who has been cast adrift by Kean and we have signed Myles Anderson who has played about ten minutes professional football. Additionally every player we have been linked with has either blown us out or was complete BS from the off. Pre season starts today, you would want your squad sorted and ready to go from now if you were organised. So how does that lot above excite me? It's enough to give me nightmares, then we add the clown that is SK and Venkys the cowboys and we have Scream 5.

...BnW, stop beating around the bush and tell us what you really think! lol

FN1 this is me on a good day. I am desperate to be optimistic about the oncoming season, but blind optimism based on rumours, BS from the owners and manager is dumb. Kean is an out and out liar and Venkys are so far removed from reality that they need space suits. They have made promises that all seem very empty so far and they have put trust in a manager that is way out of his depth, so either they are inept, gullible or don't care. None of those scenarios bodes well for the team. They have completely dismantled the old management that for 15 years was the safest pair of hands in the premiership. I am very very concerned that we will really struggle this season, and so far I have seen nothing to convince me that I am wrong, apart from the fact that we will be playing Champions league in two or three years. Rant over, time to walk the dog.

I'm still going to reserve judgement until we see (a) who comes in - and leaves and (b) what the team look like next season. Even though relatively little has actually happened so far - Jones leaving - this close season feels like something of a rollercoaster, and I don't think that any of us can predict whether we'll come out of it up or down. Give them a chance and we'll see what happens.

Delap is this the first time A) you beat me to an Emerton article, and B) you mention emerton without referring to me!!....gotta love emo :D

Well i have to say I have to agree with Emo in most respects. Yes we haven't bought anybody yet but at least the club aren't just throwing money at any old overpaid and overpriced player. I think with the likes of Formica, Rochina getting a full pre-season they will be like new signings for us and will complement players like Hoillett, Ollsson and N'Zonzi. I think The owners and Steve Kean have to be given a chance and we've got a few weeks yet to get some good signings in. At least we're in a position where we don't have to sell for once, I know Superman left but that was his decision. IMO as a Rovers fan I wouldn't have left so soon when I coulda been the clubs highest paid player and potential captain at only aged 19 so I lost a bit of respect for the lad there. Let's face it he'll be warming the bench more often than not from now on. Chin up Rovers fans

I feel sorry for your dog BnW99!!
02/07/2011 19:41:00
IS your dog called 'rover' by any chance?! ;-)

Got serious reservations about the Venky's era, however, I'll give them until the start of the season (end of the transfer window really) to prove what ambition they really do have for this club??
