Rovers handed boost by Junior

Rovers are likely to be handed a massive boost in the next few weeks with the news of a new contract signing by speed king Junior Hoilett.

Hoilett has been taking his sweet time signing a new deal at Rovers (like he did last time out) but there is thankfully no adverse reasoning for this as Hoilett himself is delighted to be at Ewood Park.

Steve Kean has actually decided to go to Canada to speed things up with Junior's Dad.

Hoilett told Sky Sports - 'I am happy at Blackburn Rovers playing for them consistently and of course I would be prepared to sign a new contract,'

'Right now I am focused on playing for Blackburn and making a name for myself in the league. The national side will come after that and I am focusing on Blackburn.

'I just kept focused, listened to my family and friends and when I got my shot I had to take it.

'I had to work hard and capitalise on every opportunity I got. I did that and showed a consistent performance to keep myself in the side.'

It's dragging but we look like getting the news we want.

Nice words... not back it up with a new contract young man :)

Not back it up? lol. Kean shoulda took the papers with him to sign there and then, looks very likely he'll be a Rover next season. I could handle losing Samba but players like JH are much harder to replace with his speed and ability.

Huge credit should go to Steve Kean if / when Junior signs a new contract. It is Kean that has given Junior his chance and has persevered with him. Only towards the end of the season did we see the best of Junior and it is clear from his comments that he is enjoying his football under Steve Kean- Some people have cast aspersions on Kean's ability to motivate the players as a result of his relative inexperience but the evidence belies these doubts. There may be exciting times ahead if we can develop more young players from the Academy and attract other talented youngsters.

Fingers crossed this is going to be backed up with the paperwork pretty soon. Potentially the best news of the close season:)

Am I becoming increasingly cynical but would an extended contract simply mean a few extra million if/when he is sold?? Contracts aren't really worth much to clubs are they??
