Vital Blackburn - Team of the Season

Strange times indeed.

In the latest end of season award category we asked VBers to vote on the team they thought deserved the Team of the Season accolade for the 2010/11 season.

As we obviously can't vote for Rovers (and why would you after the season we just had?!) the choices are normally narrowed down to the winners of the league, an unexpected side who embarked on a cup run or a side that left a good taste in the mouth.

But this season the award goes to one of the relegated sides...

Blackpool.

The Tangerines won many friends throughout their sole season in the Premier League with their expansive and fearless play, their out spoken manager and just by generally doing far, far better than most expected.

This was a closely contested category with West Brom, Manchester United, King Kenny's Liverpool and Fulham also picking up votes.

But the winners are Blackpool and it's thoroughly deserved.

Well done to Blackpool on this one - shame they didn't stay up as they were very good to watch at times!

If the season could've ended midway through they would've have been more than safe. Sadly they were found out part-way through and there was only one way for them. They were a breath of fresh air in the Premier League though.
