'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Another day, some more names surface

With Rovers transfer picture certainly looking brighter at the start of the week it came as a relief to many after a few weeks of inactivity.

So without further ado let me present you with... some more names!

Yes, the waters have gone muddy again and with the raft of overseas talent we were linked with at the weekend comes in a distinctly more Premier League feel to this morning's gossip.

First up, it's former Rover Craig Bellamy. Bellamy will be finding a new club this summer after being told by Man City that he is about as much use to them as a fart in a lift and that they want his wages off their enormous outgoings bill.

City boss Roberto Mancini is apparently ok with letting him leave for about £4 million or so, so as long as Rovers can get Craig to swallow his pride and move about an hour from Manchester then he can become a Rover again.

Whilst we're at Eastlands the next man who we are scouting is very large and very strong centre back Nedhum Onuoha. This certainly seems to fit the bill as Onuoha has again been told he is not a requirement at City but he does carry the air of being a proper Premier League centre back.

A deal of about £4-6 million is being mooted and Kean needs a new centre back after Phil Jones left. Makes sense this one as Nedhum is quality.

And finally, the last name of interest this morning is Standard Liege hardman Axel Witsel.

For those who don't know Witsel he is something of a hard man, destroyer type midfielder and he is available from his current employers for about £8 million.

Witsel is a from the same club that spawned Marouanne Fellaini of Everton and comes with quite a bit of hype attached to him.

In short, he'd be most welcome at the club.

Overall though, I hope we get something a little bit more concrete to report as the amount of names flying around at present is nothing short of crazy.

All 3 would be excellent additions, I just wish we knew more of what was going on!!!

I'd only take the boy Nedum out of that lot, Bellamy maybe if he came cheap. As for the guy from Liege, papers seem to be linking him to AC Milan too which surely doesn't bode too well for our chances..... I wonder if Kean will be doing some bargain hunting at the Copa America....

i think what's swaying the hype around the Axel Witsel rumour is that he is an SEM/Kentaro player. It could work in our favour if we decide to sign him, or else we are just being linked to him to hype him up and generate interest from other clubs.

How many more rejections before we start to look a little desperate?

I would take Onuoha for the right price. I've heard of Witsel's name linked with a few clubs but don't know much about him. I would welcome Bellamy back. I i think he would link up rather well with Kalinic but his status at the club isn't very clear at the moment. I still think Cissé is the BIG signing we need to improve our position in the PL.
ITSALLROVER
Why are we not being linked with the more sensible signings for a club of our stature?? These "big" names are not going to come to Rovers or if they do will be just looking for a big pay day. We should have had a go for Wickham, sure we can compete with Sunderland?? Sturridge is still being linked around + Scott Dann, Roger Johnson, Defoe (if he's unhappy as mentioned) etc. Compete with teams like Stoke, Sunderland et al. Not Man Utd, Milan and other massive teams :(

We need to be playing European football to atract some of these players banded about! Kean hasn't got the drawing power either - if we had a higher profile boss maybe things would be different. I don't think that Bellamy would be as half as good as he was for us - no mark Hughes to motivate him and he is older and injury prone.

If this is true, it's excellent news. Onuoha will be a quality signing, but still not in the mould of Phil Jones's class yet. I would love it, if Craig Bellamy returns. Hopefully Sparky won't hijack him this time..

Bellamy didn't set the Championship alight as you would've expected so given his age and fitness concerns I'm not so sure I'd want him back.
