Hoilett talks are on the horizon

Rovers are to finally start some serious contract negotiating as Junior Hoilett and his Dad are due in to sort of terms on a brand new deal for the Canadian flyer.

With Phil Jones already lost this transfer window fans have been worried that Rovers may lose another of their great young hopes but Junior is known to be desperate to sign a new deal at the club he has been at since he was 12 and Venky's have made it clear that no other big players will be leaving this transfer window.

Hoilett's contract is due to expire at the end of next season and with a few other clubs from the Premier League (including Newcastle United) tracking developments closely hoping to make a steal it has been a tense few weeks.

Rovers however are ready to make Junior one of the best paid players at the club with a lucrative new contract that will tie him down for many years.

Hoilett's Dad who as we all know by now is also his sons agent is due in at the start of July to sort things out.

Which means give it a couple of weeks and we shall hopefully have some good news.

Getting Hoilett to commit is one massive step in the right direction as far as I can see!

Would be a good place to start to get the fans onside after PJ's departure. Probably end up doubling his wages after such a massive improvement last season.

Pay that man what he's worth, it's only fair.

If, according to the last sentence, the negotiations last for two weeks I'd be worried. If he doesn't put pen to paper straightaway after agreeing a pay rise - it means that he is already thinking of his next move.

If only a footballer's contract were as simple as that FN1.

Do me a favour! They aren't worth the paper they're written on! What ever they agree could be meaningless come January anyway!

Big mistake from Rovers to have not sorted this earlier, as i said a couple of weeks ago, this was not cut and dried and rovers ignornace in delaying the talks may leave us with big egg on the face. This is the priority more than signing anyone and we must stop the talking and act NOW!

Agree with Glen rovers are leaving it late / arrogance in presuming another club wont want him as he is quality / speed wizardry in my estimation ! If one sits on the fence one gets splinters ! Action speaks louder than words !

Growing concerned with the length of time this is taking. Kean needs to pull his finger out.

I'm not sure my fingers can take too much more crossing on this one. As said above, it was stupid to leave it so late - however, he only really came good post-Christmas, and so we wouldn't have done anything before then. After that, I can't blame the player for not wanting to commit until our Prem status was secured. All that said, we are in something of a mess now and need to get him tied down as soon as. We've presumably got the money needed to get him on a good deal, so let's get it done.

Contract's don't mean anything nowadays do they, I think we all know this. The only really benefit of a new contract being signed is that it'll probably mean we'll get more money for him if/when he goes??
Walker
rover23 said he will sign, and I think hes right on this occasion.
