'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's done, he's out of here

Blackburn Rovers have today bid farewell to Phil Jones as he has completed his move to Manchester United after a lengthy battle over the fee.

The fee is officially £17 million but an extra arrangement over further payments is believed to have been made to take the figure past the £20 million mark.

A statement released on the Rovers wesbite said - 'Much as we would love him to stay on with us - and we made all efforts to convince him to stay - Phil has to finally follow his heart.

'We are extremely happy with his contribution to our team and we wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.'

Jones himself had this to say to the Lancashire Telegraph as a parting message - "I'd just like to start of by saying that I've loved my time at Blackburn Rovers and I will always be a huge fan.

"But this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am looking forward to a new challenge."

Good luck at United Phil, I am sure you will be a hit at Old Trafford. But you passed up the chance to become a sure fire legend at the club you support. I hope you don't regret it, I am sure in the long run you won't but then I am biased.

I am glad it's finished personally!

Now the deal has been finalised it is down to Steve Keane to make a top signing to keep the Rovers fans on board. Well done to the Venky's for standing up to the red rags bags, time to renew the ticket.

It's been on the cards, shame to see him go but I wish him well in any case. Now we can draw a line under it and start spending the money on hopefully a few players that will improve the club for next season.

I'm just glad that Vital Blackburn was the first source in the UK to bring you the news that it was a club record deal and not the reported £16.5 million he would be leaving for, another scoop for the best fans site :-)

Onwards and upwards ,we,ve got to be positive and let's have players who want to play for Blackburn rovers and give there all ! Wish phil the best , sad to see him go so soon , but he has so let's move on and welcome any new players . Let's spend wisely and let this season be a good one !

Right lets move on and concentrate on getting a good replacement.. if thats possible! Nothing against Jones - but I hope he doesn't win a single medal!

Its along way to August and we should not fall into the trap of panic buying, dnt think we will with centre back as the aim is to buy more potential than finished article so we could get good value for money, this of course will give problems further down the line if these are a roaring success as again clubs will be swarming Ewood trying to pinch em

Surely the Samba auction is up next? Kean has already said he won't stand in his way if he is DESPERATE to leave!
Mikey Delap
Do we want players that don't want to be at Ewood? No - it's too hard winning a Prem game without folk not pulling their weight. I reckon there's two solutions. (a) let them go elsewhere or (b) make the club one that players don't want to leave. Now obviously we can't become Champions League overnight but it's up to the board and the owners and the management to make Rovers a brilliant place to be for players and fans. With a few quid in our metaphorical back pockets, this is a real chance to move the club on. Fingers well and truly crossed.

the moment a player wants to leave the club i say let him go............we dont want players like benni and santa who played crap after they wernt allowed to leave...........if he wants to go he can but only if we get an offer that makes sense
aadil4rovers
Jones wanted to leave, Manure wanted to sign him there was only every going to be one outcome!! Time to move on, find players that do want to be here and carry on.

If Samba goes as well, without two quality replacement, Kean will not last 10 games into the new campaign, and ultimately relegation.
