Is this the man to replace Phil Jones?

Is this the man to replace Phil Jones?

Rovers are shortly to be one man down and the search for a quality replacement will be under way.

But with agent talk in over drive has the man to fill the large 19 year old boots been found already?

The profile certainly seems to fit... Rovers need a quality, no nonsense centre half. Roger Johnsons' current club have just been relegated and need to raise funds.

Even Johnson himself has been told he can sling his hook in due course. Look! We even have quotes and everything -

The centre half's agent Paul Smith told the Daily Mail - 'I've had a call from Birmingham to say they'd let him go. Having played every league game for two successive seasons he will be in demand. It's just a matter of where he goes.'

So, he's up for grabs and would be a quality addition. One stumbling block could be the price as Birmingham have told potential suitors he could cost £14 million... which is in fact insane.

Having said all that, we understand that Steve Kean is having a good, long look at Roger Johnson.

I think about 7-8 mil would be fair but his team mate Dann seems better value!

I would like to see this happen. He's an ever present no nonsense experienced defender. I think with The Brum already stating they want to sell him they won't get more than £8m for him. Stick a bid in Kean quick, they will snatch at it they obviously need the pennies. Might help get Seb Larsson on board too.

The price which is being quoted is financial suicide, Dann, Johnson and Foster were birminghams stand out performers, however, we need to remember despite them all being defensive area's they went DOWN

Keans "long hard look" @ Birmingham defenders seems to have taken too long, Liverpool, having missed out on Jones for £22m. are biding.

considering that johnson is 28 hes not worth 12 million pounds to us id settle for 8 but id prefer we go for a younger player as nelesn is still a very good cb.............but if samba leaves id say we should definatly move for johnson

DommyWalker, you are a rich man! Wish I had £6m! I like the this Johnson fella and Dann, however would I be the only one thinking that a bid for Jonny Evans would be a step in the right direction. I was hoping for someone from United coming in our direction within the Jones deal, even Brown or O'Shea, so maybe we have already looked at this. And yes, that is my vote for James Collins, we could do a lot worse!
