Looking for a good striker? There's one leaving

Long forgotten striker Niko Kalinic has come out all guns blazing this afternoon after proclaiming that he would like to make an impact for Blackburn Rovers but he fears his time may have run out in which to do so.

Kalinic has not seen a first team start in donkeys years at Ewood Park and seems to have fallen out with boss Steve Kean.

But a source close to Kalinic (yes we know) has admitted that Croatia's winning goalscorer on Saturday afternoon is after talks with Steve Kean to clarify the future and whether he will be given the chance to shine in East Lancashire.

However, privately Niko knows that Kean is not a massive fan of his with rumours that Kalinic does not fit into the style that the Rovers boss is trying to create in his side.

There are even whispers that the Scot does not like the striker's attitude.

Either way, talks or no talks... Kalinic's time at Rovers looks to be limited with the slightly overweight vocally superior female ready to sing.

I can not understand Kean not picking Kalinic last season. The only reason we were in the drop zone was due to a lack of goals. Kalinic is a proven international scorer, in form for his country. Had Kean picked him we would have been mid table and millions of pounds better off. Simples! What does Kean mean that Kalinic 'does not suit his style of play' Does he really prefer strikers who don't score to ones that can? For the good of the club they should put any differences to one side and get on with winning for Rovers supporters. If not then I have to sympathise with Kalinic, he can do better at another Premiership club

prepared to lose Niko, but offers Benjani a new contract. I'll bet that inspires the up and coming youngsters. Kean is a tool.

I really don't get this one. Kalinic could/should save us a summer gamble. Bringing one striker in is a taking a chance but having to buy two or more could be anything from disasterous to amazing. Keeping Niko gives us someone we know and who is already familiar with Ewood etc etc. If he leaves, it will be a sad, sad day.

the whole kean/kalinic thing doesn't make sense. either play him (PLEASE) or sell him, i dont think theres much point with keeping him on as a distraction

The fee is looking like £3m which is a joke. Even if he doesn't think he fits in which sounds crazy, surely it would be better to keep him for another season so he can prove himself.

couldn't agree more IAR, despite his lack of game time, i think what we have seen of kalinic makes the 6mil seem good money- he just needs to be played
retroflair31
We'll regret letting him go and we'd regret it even more if it was for a poultry £3 million!!
