'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Samba's focus is on Rovers

Rovers captain Samba may have handed the club a cryptic boost by making statements that indicate he wants to stay at Rovers.

Samba has long been linked with a move to join Arsene Wenger and his merry band of quality centre backs (please note: sarcasm may be used here) and there was even talk of a bid being lodged.

But judging by his most recent comments it looks like talk of a move may be premature as Samba's aims seem to be -

1) Holiday

2) Blackburn Rovers

Samba told The Lancashire Telegraph - 'Hopefully it is a big summer for the club. My only concern at the moment is to go on holiday. I am not going to worry about next year now.

'My mind is set on relaxing at the moment because, for me, that is the hardest season I have had at Blackburn Rovers. It has been very hard mentally.

'Someone asked me what is harder, playing for the title or playing to avoid relegation on the last day. That is harder. You are so drained, so credit to the players and everyone. We did it and I feel very proud about that.

'A lot of things have changed and it has been a very hard time. That was the first time I have gone 12 games without a win, a lot of things have gone on.

'I am very happy now though. Let us see who we sign. Now we can improve the squad. That is up to the owners, we have no powers.'

We always read a lot into these ambiguous comments but this can only be seen as a positive from where I sit.

Makes for pleasant reading this me thinks...

this is very comforting and encouraging indeed.

It looks like he's waiting to see what kind of players we bring in before he decides whether to move to a 'bigger' club. If we can get a few top signings we should be able to keep hold of him for at least another season I reckon.

Spurs fan here. Would you consider a swap deal with Bentley heading back, maybe chuck in Jenas as well?

No chance thenuge. Try Defoe and Pavlyuchenko and we are getting closer.

Bentley and Jenas? Having a laugh. I think his wait and see stance is very sensible. Time for the owners to step up and show us what they're made of.

In all fairness to big Chris - it will come down to the owners. When a big bid comes in for him will they reject it? If they do we won't be selling anyone that we don't want to. If they agree and take the money then they have no ambition - simples! They don't need the money, we don't need the money.

Personally I still think that Samba will be leaving this summer, however, it'll be (or at least should be) for a very good price!!
