Venky's to police Givet matter

Rovers owners Venky's have been quick of the mark in their own handling of the Gael Givet/Phil Black/Bung racket and will launch their own investigation into the matter.

Rovers made the front page of the newspapers yesterday morning with news filtering through that an illegal payment was made in the transfer of Givet from Marseille back in 2009.

But now the Rao family are to step up their own investigation into the dispute and want the issue resolved.

The important bit of the Sun's investigation which doesn't involve giving themselves a pat on the back reads - 'Blackburn's new owners have pledged their own internal investigation after The Sun's shock revelations over the £3.5million signing of Gael Givet....

Now Blackburn's new owners, the Venky's, have reacted swiftly.

They have ordered an immediate inquiry into the club's role in the Givet transfer - and all others carried out before they took over.

Already they fear they will uncover more examples of wrong-doing as they look more closely into the situation.

A short Venky's statement in the Sun reads - 'Venky's are not surprised about the revelations in The Sun and would not be surprised if there are further revelations of wrong-doing prior to our purchase and ownership of the club.'

(Somewhere, out on Mercury, Vinjay has just creamed himself at that comment.)

Their comment makes it sound like this is part of the reason why Sam left.

sounds like they are trying to come out as the white knights?

There's something I don't understand about this (in fact there's many things I don't understand about Venky's and Steve Kean - but that's a different matter)..... are we to understand that the club is involved here? Givet made the payments, after Black harassed him (and prior to that his old agent), do we know if Black contacted the club about being paid for his taxi services? Why do I feel that there are certain parties intent on maing us play in the championship next season... of course, we have to make sure our house is clean and all that, but this all smells of points deductions now.

Looks like they are dnt like "There's only one Jack Walker" being sung so if they can blacken the names of anyone pre-venkys this would suit them to a tee, cheap shot if you ask me

I didn't like Allardyce's style, but you would have thought that he would have made sure he was whiter than white in any transfer dealings, especially given that dirt, even unproven, sticks for a long time, and the media have long memories.
blarty
I suppose Blarty that there is more to come out yet in this saga. Things we don't know - i am pretty sure Givet's case aint the only one, just one that has been made public. Bit like a super injunction!!!

While I'm sure there's more to come, surely the article laid no blame at Rovers' door. Only Givet had any contact, and it was his decision to pay Black. While I don't suggest we count our chickens (pun intended), I can't see how Rovers can cop for this as it stands.
