Emerton Sydney Bound- A Vital Exclusive

Reports are emerging that Blackburn Rovers Australian international Brett Emerton has been in discussion with local Australian Club, Sydney Fc.

Discussions have taken place between the two clubs, with a gentlemans agreement on the boards indicating a release to be granted if Rovers are relegated. This agreement becomes null and void if and hopefully when Rovers stay up, on which case Emerton will see out his 10th and final year at Blackburn

A true professional til the very end, fingers crossed we have another season, both of Emerton and EPL to look forward to

Kudos to Oziroversfan for the scoop, which a source at Sydney Fc has confirmed

Great scoop from our aussie friends, hopefully it will be the latter and we have emo for another season

Nice work here guys! He has been a proper club man of that there is no doubt.

Cheers bud, ozi gave us a good lead! Lol whilst he isn't our best player, his commitment and versatility should ensure he will be kept when we stay up

I have a huge amount of respect for Emo, he has been a model professional and without a doubt, he is one of the most loyal players ever to wear a Rovers shirt. He never bitches about being on the bench and frankly, the likes of MGP and Samba need to take a lesson in loyalty from him. However, with all that being said, I would let him go even if we stay up. I think we can all agree that he has been his and miss this season, more often miss. And most players want to finish their career in theie country of birth. Whilst he may no longer be Sharp enough for the EPL, he is definitely

... good enough to be a huge hit and a hero for his home club, but he would be best going there in the next year or so, whilst he still has the legs for the game. So to thank him for his loyalty to the club, I would allow him to leave if his wish is to retire in Sydney.
roversfanben
Damn phone, keeps posting my messages before they are complete! I would only let him go if we can bring in cover for the right back position, Salgado isn't getting any younger and we need someone to replace him when he retires.
roversfanben
fair points there RFB....just a couple of things, I honestly (emerton love glasses off) dont think there is a player out there who we could bring in to replace him. His versatility is extremely important, and he actually understands that their are super talented players ahead of him at right mid and right back. However, Emerton pushes them to keep them on their toes, and Im sure he will have a role to play next season. He can have his testimonial, and come back home :D
sasman
i would be happy with either choice really, his versatility is a big strength in the premiership over a long season so I would be happy to see him stay a Rover .On the other hand if a chance to go back home comes up it would only be fair to let him go if that's his choice after all the years he's put in for us it's well deserved IMO.
ITSALLROVER
i want him to stay. hes still quality, look at that cross last game! he can still do a job in most positions...even in goal.
lhrover
He's been a top pro for Rovers, but I agree with Ben, he's past his best and ready to move on, let him with the best will in the world and many thanks for a sterling job.

He's past his best but still handy to have around. If he really wants to go, then fine. If he wants to stay for one more year, on the understanding that he'll be even more of a bit part player, then no probs for me.
rossp2112
Yes If Blackburn get relegated he will be playing for Sydney fc according to his father

Can we keep Emo and send Grella to Sydney?
