Rovers Reserves are champions of the North

Some good news to wake up to this morning as a brace from Ruben Rochina has won Blackburn Rovers Reserves the Barclays Reserve League North trophy.

Rovers triumphed 2-1 over Saturday's Premier League opponents with goals from the former Barcelona man within ten minutes of each other in the first half giving Rovers a 2-0 half time lead.

The first strike in particular was a terrific effort from 25 yards just as Rovers looked like they might be overrun with United looking rampant in the early stages.

David Petrucci reduced the arrears for Man Utd in the second half from the penalty spot but it wasn't enough as the only side who looked likely to score further were Rovers.

Bad news came with the news that Rochina came in for some rough treatment from the Red Devils in the second half and one crunching tackle ended up dislocating the Spaniard's shoulder.

But that was the only negative on a night of positives for Rovers as they advance to play Chelsea next Monday to determine the overall winners.

Rovers lined up - Bunn, Henley, Hanley, Lowe, Morris, Parry, Formica, Rochina, Kalinic, Aley, Potts.

Good result but gutted as Rochina would have been fired up to be unleashed on Saturday after scoring a brace and now he won't be available to play!

hold the fone are they now playing kalinic in the resevers o this is good our highest signing in the last 5 year s is play ing in this team o yes wat a ryt gud club we our thank god we ll be playing derby county next year in the championship o so proud lol////

how long is he out for then? how long are people normally injured for with dislocated shoulders, ive never heard of one

What a player we could have in Rochina for next season. anybody seen how Formica is getting on at all? He looked a decent player on YouTube but he seems to be the forgotten signing at the moment.

Great news (apart from Rochina's shoulder) but what on Earth is Niko doing in the reserves? We'll probably get some rubbish about match fitness but to me it just looks like distance being put between him and the first team.
