'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jones focused on Rovers

Rovers defender and England hopeful Phil Jones is ignoring the speculation of a big summer move and is concentrating on keeping his boyhood club in the division they belong.

Jones has been a revelation over the last few months which has lead to the usual feast of names being linked with his services.

But Phil has got a one track mind and unsurprisingly for a man it is on football.

Jones told The Independent - 'I can't afford to think about any of that, I just need to be concentrating on keeping Blackburn up'

'I tend not to read the papers or listen to what the pundits say about me.

'My mates will tell me they saw me in the newspaper linked to this club and that club, but to be honest it goes in one ear and out the other.'

Jones did however compliment Arsenal on their style of football but praised the league in general for the variety of challenges.

Jones added - 'I think Arsenal play the prettiest football in the Premier League.

'Obviously money helps. Having more money allows you to play in a certain way, but that's the beauty of the Premier League - there are so many different styles.

'You know it's not easy for Arsenal to go to Stoke and win a game there anymore.

'It's not knocking anyone's style, it's just the nature of the Premier League and that's why everyone loves it.'

Some very intelligent comments from the young man, if we can stay in the division then I am confident his services can be retained.

One day Captain of England?? I think he's got the potential, Though the halfwit pundits and columnists will say he will never be chosen until he swaps his Rovers shirt for one from a "bigger" club.

the lad seems like he has a wise head on him, hopefully he wears our jersey for a few more years to come!

Amazingly a lot of the papers are reading this as "Jones wants to joins Arsenal"!!! ha ha!

the main point of having a rich owner is to at least be able to hold onto our prized assets...if venky can't at least do that, then they should go

If his agent has any sense he'll tell him to stay put and continue to learn his trade - keep him grounded, let him play and we'll be moving up the league. He's only 19, he can move in 5 years!

Sounds like he's got decent people behind him - he's not saying anything silly and is being sensible all round. I really hope we keep hold of him, whatever happens.

what will be will be, money always talks and if i was a betting man , then i don't expect him to be in a Rovers shirt next season, hope im wrong, but history suggest if the figure is good enough then rovers will sell
