'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Yeah! We've made a bid for Cisse, oh wait no...

Morning all and hope you enjoyed your bank holiday weekend - apparently we won on Saturday but I didn't hear much about it? ;)

As far as Rovers are concerned there has been some confusion over the course of this weekend with regards to our interest in hot property striker Pappis Demba Cisse.

Cisse currently plies his trade for Freiburg in the Bundesliga and has bagged 24 goal in 32 matches so far.

Compare that with our five strikers who have 15 goals between them and you can see why figures of 15 million euros are being bandied about as a transfer fee.

But the confusion started when a snippet of news popped up by the form of a statement from Freiburg's sporting director.

'I can confirm that Blackburn have made us an offer,' Freiburg sporting director Dirk Dufner told publication Kicker.

But about 3 hours after that exciting news had reached us then a counter statement roared in to put things on the back burner.

'This was a misunderstanding by Kicker,' Rudi Rasca, Freiburg's Head of Communications, told BBC Sport.

'We won't say that Blackburn are not interested but we have yet to receive a concrete offer on paper.'

'We know that they have been watching him during matches this season - but so have many Premier League sides this season.'

I would imagine that the bid was not tabled as it would seem daft to commit that sort of money to a cause that is still not certain to be in the Premier League next season.

Safety first, big money strikers second.

Sounds like a player, but again, let's get this season sorted first and then talk about big signings.
