'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Robinson warns of relegation move

Rovers number one Paul Robinson has given something of a warning this morning as he knows he will have to move from Rovers if we are relegated as he wishes to stay in the EPL.

Having said that, Robbo is confident that Rovers will avoid the drop and has urged the players to stick together to dig themselves out of trouble.

Robinson is quoted in the Sun as saying - 'As long as Blackburn Rovers is a Premier League football team I will be here.

Asked what would happen if they were relegated, Robbo responded - 'I will deal with that when it comes but I don't think it will be the case.'

Robbo has taken a different line than that of his team mates who have bemoaned Rovers bad luck in the past few months.

The former England goalie believes Blackburn has aimed the blame at the side for not achieving what they should have.

Robbo continued - 'We can't keep saying that we didn't get a fair result, performances haven't been great for weeks and results have shown that.

'I think that the performance on Monday night against Manchester City was a lot better, and I genuinely do think that we deserved more than we got out of the game, but we can't keep saying that, we do need to start winning matches now.

'It has been an uphill battle, we've put ourselves in a situation that isn't ideal, a situation none of us want to be in.

'First of all we've got to concentrate on getting out of this situation we are in and securing our Premier League survival.

'You look at where we are, results aren't going according to the form guide and it is getting close down there.

'We've put ourselves in a predicament far too close to it than where we wanted it to be.'

Wouldn't want to lose Robbo as he has improved immensely since his move from Spurs. But he is one of the players we would lose if we do go down... he's too good to be a Championship goalie.

Robbo has been one of our best, most consistent players this season. The way he's worked back to being somewhere close to his best after a shaky start at Ewood is admirable, and I hope he continues to be one at Ewood for a good few years yet. I like the fact that he says the team should take responsibility for the position we're in - that attitude is what we're going to need in order to put it right over the next few weeks.

I think he's right, true we have had a few awful decisions against us but the premier league table doesn't lie and the blame falls on both team and manager. It's a cruel league and teams can play well and go down simply because they don't take their chances in possession. It would be a great loss if Robbo left. Goalkeepers are often overlooked for honours but IMO he's been one of our best, if not the best player for us this season.

I am pleased one of the players is not shirking from the blame, the players are as culpable as the rest of them but they are good enough to get out of it!

I have read a couple of reports this week that fielding has already agreed a 400,000 move to Derby which will beconcluded in the summer, so keeping Robbo is vital

I like Robbo's honesty in the piece, makes a pleasant change from the normal BS drivel excuses. I would also hate to see him leave the club, I always thought we would struggle desperately to replace Friedel, Robbo has achieved that in spades.
