Kean ready to fight!

Kean ready to fight!

Steve Kean admits the team are now in a dog-fight to save their Premier League status.

Kean had previously stated he was not under pressure and was calm about the situation, but with 5 games to go the realization of the task ahead may have just hit him!

Kean told Sky Sports:

'We know where we are, we are in an absolute dogfight, and sometimes you have to fight.

'We have spoken to the players about all that and I'm very confident they have taken all that on board.'

'We need to roll our sleeves up and battle for our lives.'

Better late than never from the ever so bald one, and with back to back home games coming up, it may have come just in time.

Star man Junior Hoilett is set to return to the starting line up against Manchester City on Monday after missing the game with Everton last Saturday.

The young Canadian has been praised by pretty much every Blackburn Rovers fan so far this season, and now it's Kean's turn.

'We are confident he will be back for Monday. He missed the last game with a bit of fluid on his hamstring but that is clearing up and we are hopeful he will be able to train on Saturday and Sunday.'

'We have missed him. His quality this season has been fantastic, and his consistency.'

'He's not been a flash in the pan - he's been a constant threat to opposition defences.

Well observed Kean! About the only thing you have got right in your time here is putting this lad in the starting line-up!

Mmmm not sure about being fortunate, we could be in bottom 3 before we kick a ball which will add pressure, if we are not it may give us confidence to pull off a surprise win?

I have analysed the fixtures ahead for the bottom five teams and it suggests to me that 37 points will be enough to survive. With Wolves and West Ham in our remaining games we must rate our survival chances.

One of the problems we've had over the last few weeks is getting the players to really stand up and be counted and - as Kean says - "battle for our lives". I reckon part of this has been his reluctance to admit that we're in the relegation scrap, so I'm relieved to hear him come out and say it. Monday is a massive game, and it'll need 11 massive performances - let's hope that realising the gravity of the situation gives the lads an extra 10%.

Positive Signs For Bennett

Bennett was positive of Blackburn being able to see off Lancashire rivals Preston heading into this game at Ewood Park after the Norwich and Fulham results.

Minor Graham Setback

Blackburn had to do without Danny Graham against Preston following the groin problem that forced him off against Fulham last week. He could return against Brighton next week.

Hugely Frustrating

Mowbray admitted Blackburn didn't start the game well against Preston but had then been the dominant side so was 'majorly disappointed' not to record a victory.
