'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Diouf wants to ride to Rovers rescue

Rovers on loan striker Mame Biram Diouf is ready to step into the breach and do his bit to help Rovers stave off relegation.

Diouf is in contention for a starting place against Man City on Monday night as Roque Santa Cruz is ineligible (which is probably a good thing judging by his recent form) and after banging one in for the Reserves the other night.

Diouf has only got five games left at Ewood Park before he returns to Old Trafford but insists that he isn't focused on his return to the Theatre of Arrogance...

Mame spoke to the Lancashire Telegraph and said - "From now I can`t think about Manchester United and I won`t. My vision at the moment is just to play for Blackburn Rovers and to help them.

"We have got five games to play and it is all about that. We just have to survive and we have to do well and that is what I am focused on. At the end of the season we will see what happens but that does not matter at the moment."

With Benjani, Jason Roberts and amazingly (yes he is still here) Niko Kalinic competing for the striker spot it appears that the rivalry will be fierce to get a spot in the starting line up but whoever bags the nod Diouf believes the talent is there to keep Rovers in the division.

Mame continued - "It is always hard to be in the bottom and so hopefully we are not going to be there. We have to make ourselves play like we know we can.

"We know we have the talent and the players to do well. Every player can do it and we just have to work together and things will get better.

"My job is to score goals. I just want to show my best, do the best I can and hopefully the gaffer will see it. If he plays me in the first team then I will try and do my best."

Do you think he will start? Niko would be my preference but Kean will probably go with Roberts!

I think Benjani will start, with it being against City he may just hope that Benjani can come back to haunt his own club

i bet kean will still start RSC...lol.

I'm with Mikey Delap on this one, Kean will almost certainly play Roberts. surely Niko has to be thrown in now. I just hope Hoillett is playing otherwise our attacking options don't look too clever at the moment.
