'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Kean wants long term Roque stay

It seems Rovers are very keen to retain the services of Roque Santa Cruz when his loan agreement ends at the end of the current season.

Roque has been banging them in for fun since he re-signed (pretend along with me here if you will) and has been such a machine that fans are salivating at the side of their mouths to see the 20 goal hitman return permanently to the club.

Sarcasm aside, Kean has been impressed with the all round efforts of the Paraguayan and would love to hook up for more than just an Indian summer.

Steve 'The Mouthpiece' Kean told Sky Sports - 'We would love to sign him.'

'We tried to fix a price with City in January when we signed him on loan and they wouldn't do it.

'We'll get to the end of the season and see where we can take it, but the good thing is he wants to stay. It's difficult to join in January, but the advantage for Roque is that there are still a lot of the players here from when he was with us before.

'He's been banging them in during training and he probably just needs one to bobble in off his shin and he'll be off and running.'

'He's looked quality every day in training and the only thing missing is having a full run without any niggling injuries so he can be totally focused about playing in the game, not protecting a little knock.

'He's a quality player, but he hasn't played a lot of football.

'He's taken a bit of time to get up to speed and he's picked up a couple of niggling injuries.

'But we are adamant that if we get him on the pitch, then he will contribute.'

I fail to see the attraction of keeping him on myself?!

WHY? Useless piece of junk... Kean hasnt got a clue... yes lets sign a striker who has not scored in the last 4 months...

i think this lad is are furture dont mind beck and all the brazilians santa would be a great great signing still cant see why he s not being partnerd up with niko kally love to see these go for it i would be betting on us to get goals .... cant believe we cant win at home.. i heard them on the radio laughting about us saying that we wanted to play fancy football and play in europe next year yes sacking big sam not able to play soccer is the way forward then the *****er went on to say that he doesnt see us winning a game till the pre season when we ll probable be playing hull or someone

Not been on it since his return, but with a pre-season under his belt and if Rovers can get him very very cheap, then he may still turn out to be good business, He has got six games to earn that move

His current form suggest a Free Transfer would be to much. I can't get out of my mind the way he left. Can any tell us what has Niko Kalinic done to be frozen out by a manager who is totally at sea with his tactics?

At least the way Roque is playing his price should keep dropping, we should get him for £2m by the end of the season! £15m loan for a year to Man Citeh isn't bad. I'd rather have Santa on the books as one of our strikers than Benjani and Roberts :)

If he stays injury free and scores at least 4 goals in the next 6 games and a substantial fee/wage drop then I just might be able to see this news as positive. We need a striker who can stay fit and score 15-20 goals a season and he only achieved this when we had Bentley and Pedersen (v1.0 mind you not the underperforming version we have now) supplying the crosses.
ITSALLROVER
of course he now wants to stay, no one else is interested on current form! and on what wages? how much more will we have to waste on this ugrateful git? bloody hell where is kalinic?
retroflair31
If he thinks he will retain his current wage level he must be joking surely?!
