Rovers are after horse face

Rovers manager Steve Kean has confirmed his interest in former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

The papers have even picked up the story as a legitimate piece of gossip and believe if Rovers beat the drop then the move could be on the cards.

The good news is that with Venky's now in charge, Rovers could actually afford the wages required to interest the slightly long jawed Dutchman.

Alan Nixon is reporting in the Mirror - 'Rovers would have to make van Nistelrooy a lucrative offer - probably on a one-year deal - and the move could not be finalised until they are sure of Premier League survival.

Kean and Rovers have been short of a regular scorer this season and the return of Roque Santa Cruz on an expensive loan deal from Manchester City has not worked out.

Mame Biram Diouf will head back to Manchester United after a loan spell while Benjani will be moved out because his fitness has fallen short of Premier League levels.

El Hadji Diouf is due to return from Rangers but his future lies elsewhere.

Rovers have only Jason Roberts as a fit and available striker for next season.'

Wow Alan, only Jason Roberts? I am pretty sure there is a slightly miserable looking Croatian you are missing here somewhere?!

At 35, Van Nistelrooy may represent something of a gamble.

Would be a big move at his age and could we keep him fit?

Could be worse I suppose, On a positive Salgado has been a hit at his tender age, so all is not lost?

All down to the wages. If we can get him in on a performance based salary then perhaps it could be worth a punt?

You guys are getting a lot of media attention from interest in players like Van Nistelrooy and Ronaldinho. Anyone want to bet on who will be the next one?

would be a great signing even at 35. He is a natural finisher, he never scored many if any of his goals outside the box but he was always in the right place to tap the ball in the back of the net and notch up an impressive record and that's where Jason Roberts is lacking with his spoon feet bless him.

He wants way to much and is past his sell by date. His wages will cause all sorts of problems in the dressing room. Besides all that it smacks of another ridiculous pie in the sky claim form our headline craving owners

For all the "superstar" names we're being linked with how many of them are (or even will) come off?? I'm not thinking that many. Van Nistelroy likns are nothing new but nothing that I'd think will come off.
