Diouf touch and go on Rovers future

Diouf touch and go on Rovers future

El Hadji Diouf has been the subject of debate this morning with uncertainty over his Blackburn Rovers future.

Diouf has been on loan at Scottish club Rangers for the last few months after falling behind Junior Hoilett in the pecking order at Ewood Park.

Rangers have been offered the chance to take up the final year of his Rovers contract at the end of the season but Kean doesn't know if they will... leaving him with the prospect of returning to Lancashire to fight for his place.

It has come to light though that Diouf left as he didn't fancy sitting on his behind while Junior Hoilett came to prominence.

Kean told the BBC - 'Hence the reason why he went on loan to Rangers.'

'But he has one year left of his deal, so I don't know if Rangers will want to take up the last year of his contract.'

Controversy has always followed Diouf round his footballing career but Kean was complimentary of the Senegalese marmite man's attitude.

However he is in the dark as to whether he would want to come back.

But Kean commented - 'He was always a good lad and always worked hard.

'The thing that was going to be difficult for El Hadji was we've got a young lad here, Junior Hoilett, who is a talent and I wanted to play Junior.

'And I said to El Hadji, you are not going to play as much as you normally do, and he is at a stage of his career where he wanted to play.

'I don't know if he will want to come back.'

Personally I feel that it is time to let Diouf go, good player but he has reached a crossroads like ourselves.

Don't think he should ever have been allowed to leave on loan, an if Kean didnt fancy him he should of been sold in January, not loaned out as it appears reading between the lines that he will go for free if Rangers want to pay the last year of his contract, personally I feel Rovers now lack, a Diouf/Savage/Batty personality in the team now and those type of personalities are needed when you have to role ur sleeves up and fight

I completely agree with Glen, we never should've let him go. He was, before he was allowed to leave, the best crosser in our team. Hoilett is a better player, I will not argue that, but Diouf still could've contributed massively to our team. He is a dick, on that we can all agree, but he shows heart, he shows passion and he shows fight, something that seems to be lacking in more than a few of our current players.

I don't think we should have let him go out on loan either. Should have sold him if they wanted him out. I think at the moment we coulda used him for his crossing abilty with Roque in the team. Hoilett could easily play as a second striker instead of on the wing.

He should go, however, with a contract in place I personally think he'll come back to see this out and then leave on a FREE. Rangers can't afford him and clubs aren't going to be forming a massive queue for him are they!!
