'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Nelly backs the crowd to back the lads

Rovers club captain Ryan Nelsen has called for the fans to get behind the players tomorrow afternoon.

Nelsen recognises that the game is a 'biggie' and hopes to end the slump of results that has seen Blackburn winless in six and one point above the drop zone.

Nelsen told the Lancashire Telegraph - "Every Premier League is important but there are times when individual games take on special significance and this is one of them.

"It is a big game for both teams but perhaps especially for us, when we are keen to end a disappointing run with a big result and we are at home.

"It can take a spark of individual ability or a fans initiative like this to help push you over the line."

Nelsen is one of the been there and done that gang at Ewood Park and knows that when the big matches roll around the usually sombre Rovers fans raise their game and he expects the players to respond to that.

Nelsen continued - "I have been here long enough to know when we find ourselves in situations like this before the fans have been able to lift us out of it.

"I can remember games against Wigan and Portsmouth especially, when the fans genuinely did become the 12th man in terms of the whole ground seemed to join together to help us to achieve victory.

"We are looking for the same sort of thing on Saturday against a Blackpool team that should be in no way under estimated.

"The way Blackpool have played this season has brought a whole new dimension to the Premier League. They are an unpredictable side and can win 4-0 one week and lost 4-0 the next."
