'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Andrews gets Kean backing

Stdve Kean has given Rovers boo boy Keith Andrews a bit of support by backing him to bounce back from his crucial mistake on Saturday.

Keith got the ball rolling for Villa on Saturday with a clumsy mistake to gift Villa a penalty at the start of the second period which capped off a poor outing for the Trappatoni favourite.

But Steve has backed Keith to come good and for Rovers to show the fans an improved performance next time out at Fulham.

Kean spoke to the Lancashire Telegraph and said - 'Keith is gutted about the penalty but he`s the type of player who holds his hands up'

'He made a mistake but everyone makes mistakes on the pitch.

'Of course we will support him. Keith's a great lad, he's a good player, he's an international player.

'It's just one of those things. Everyone makes mistakes, unfortunately for him in this instance it led to a penalty.

'But he's big enough, old enough and experienced enough to not let that affect him.

'I think any fan is allowed their opinion on players, you've got your favourite players and you've got players you don't like as much as the others.

'That's just football.

'Hopefully they will all help him. Our fans are fantastic, they get behind the team.

'I know we didn't give them a lot to shout about on Saturday but hopefully the travelling fans at Fulham will see a better result and then we'll look forward to the Blackpool game - they've been fantastic at home in every single game this year.

'The penalty that came on Saturday, it was unfortunate that Keith made a mistake, but he will bounce back from that.

'He won`t have a problem.'

A lot of words there Steve, let's see actions to match them.

Nice to see him sticking up for a bit but I don't think many will agree?!

Got nowt against KA and would never boo the lad but he hasn't made a very good impact this season. it's almost as if Kean feels he has to prove himself by picking him in the hope that he'll play a blinder.
ITSALLROVER
kean said the right thing and he really doesn't deserve anymore playing time in a rovers shirt. it's not a coincident that andrews was the one who made such huge mistake. never seen that before...

I just cant take to the guy. It has nothing to do with who signed him or what club he came from. Everybody liked John Stead and he came from the lower leagues. Keith just does not merit a place on the bench let alone a starting place

rover23 ur right im irishand a fan and i cant beleve he gets games with blackburn ,,,, i think they both should go , yea ve seen the fomations he played against villa but the players he put in my word at this present moment we dont have a striker who plays 90 mins and scores goels so we rely on midfielders putting grella andrews in midf really leaves throw in jones to no goals or passes so ireally dont understand wats happin in my club should i be looking forward to be playing burnley next year

It is easy to lay the blame at one player - but the whole team we're poor the other day - probably with the exception of Robbo. It's the manager who picks the team and tactics - he has to shoulder the blame.
FreidelNo.1
I agree 100% with Freidel number 1, its a team of 11 and the manager picks it, so everyone is accountable

Yes it was a poor display from the whole team, but Andrews shouldnt be getting in our side, he is not good enough. I don't agree with booing him, but Kean should be taking him out of the firing line.
