'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jones predicts a blue and white future

Phil Jones has given a little insight into his thought process and has revealed that the steady stream of good youngsters and bright players being churned out has convinced him that he is onto a good thing with Blackburn.

Jonesy has been linked with an endless amount of clubs bigger and allegedly better than his current surroundings but decided his future lay with our Ewood Park outfit and signed a new five year deal.

Jones spoke to Rovers official website - 'I made the right decision. It's pleasing when the manager says nice things about you and I'm happy to have signed a new contract'

'There's a lot of young players coming through the academy and the reserves these days at Blackburn. That's promising for the future.

'It's very exciting. It's exciting for everyone at the club. We've got a lot of talent here, we work hard and we train hard day-in day-out.

'The future is really bright.'

Jonesy has been linked with an incredibly bright future and has even been tipped for a good run in the England set up in the upcoming years.

When asked about it however, Superman played it with a straight bat.

Jones continued - 'You never know, I'd like to one day, but I'll set short-term goals for now, concentrate on getting back out on the pitch and getting some game time.'

It is a signal of intent from the boys upstairs at Rovers that shows we are serious about holding onto our best players unlike a few years back where all we could do was barter for the best price...

the most important impact the new owner has on the club is the ability to offer players higher wages and tie them to the club. i do thank them for that. we might have lost players left and right already otherwise.

Let's hope his rovers career is a long and fruitful one - littered with medals and trophies!

I've tried to be a glass half full than half empty kind of person but I've got reservations about the new owners and worry that the new contract is nothing more than something to add a few million to his price?? Contract's don't really mean anything these days, however, it's a sign of intent from Jones' view anyway that he does want to be a Rovers player and that's a positive thing. The dude has a very bright future ahead of him.
