Kean talks Roque injuries

Roque Santa Cruz is not expected to miss any game time, despite being withdrawn at half time of the draw with Newcastle due to ANOTHER injury scare.

Rovers boss Steve Kean has expressed his pleasure at a break to give Cruz time to get back up to full fitness and work with the medical team.

Kean told BBC Radio Lancashire - 'His concerns in the past have been other injuries.

'Because he hasn't played as many minutes at City, he might pick up another little niggle here and there.'

Cruz has been on again and off again in a Rovers shirt but the substitution against the Geordies was merely a precaution.

Kean continued - 'It's only a small injury and we've got a break now until our next game at Villa to get some extensive treatment on it and do some tough work with him in the gym and on the training ground - and hopefully he'll be 100% fit.'

'The doctor said that Roque could only sprint at 75-80%.'

'The last thing you want is him missing three or four games, so he was brought off as a precaution.'

I hope he does get fit and stay fit. Shame that header against the Toon didn't go in. I know a few of the fans are starting to get on Steve's case about the squad rotation and this is the dilemma he faces. When Roque is fit he will be a definite starter and he's only playing the odd game at the moment and Strikers need games to hit form.

Nice to know we're playing and getting fit a player for Man Citeh! Shame we can't develop our own players more too.

Can't see him staying fit too long im affraid, Ashame but we can't afford the gamble in the summer on those wages if he cant play at least 30 games a season
