'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fabiano failure followed Ronaldinho pursuit

Rovers have revealed that after failed attempts to sign David Beckham and Ronaldinho in January they made a move to sign Sevilla striker Lucas Fabiano... and failed.

The new owners seemed intent on signing a big name in the January window but failed and instead went for the more established players with good potential.

It has now come to light they tried even harder for the big name than they let on.

A Venky's spokesman told the Lancashire Telegraph - 'We did talk with Sevilla about Fabiano,'

'It was after we did not sign Ronaldinho, but we are not interested in signing Fabiano now. We want to sign a young striker.

'But there are no plans for transfers now. We still have more time.'
