John Williams leaves Rovers

The Mail Online is reporting that John Williams has become the latest casualty of the recent Venky's takeover, after a meeting with the new owners ended with John Williams ending his reign at Blackburn Rovers Football Club

The Mail understands that John Williams departure is under 'Mutual Consent'

Lets just hope it is just that, and Williams was not forced out of the club, as we do owe him for such a legacy he leaves behind...

there's no way he could have agreed to leave willingly. cunning move on venky's part to let the situation settled a bit before getting rid of him. outrageous.
DommyWalker
no way this man is a legend how ???????

Tbh its been on the cards since they arrived, No-one has heard from JW since Sam's departure, Disappointed but got to keep the faith, Many have said give the new guys a chance or i will end up eating my own words, so i have decided to take that stance, but so far no humble pie being ate at the Mullan household

Nothing on the Website yet. Hope the Mail have got this wrong as the timing is awful. It was bound to happen sooner or later after his opinion obviously counted for nothing on BIGSAMGATE lol. If Venky's want rid of JW they should at least let him go after the season ends. Would be a massive shame if he does leave though.
ITSALLROVER
gutted if this is true! the model of family club mentality. but have to say always coming after Big Sam leaving and nothing from him all January including the transfers! In Venky's we trust??
bantheman
this is a terrible. i think Venky's have done some good since they have been here, but Rovers were always safe with Williams and this can not be a good move. Will be sorely missed

This may well be mutual, JW was well known to have hated having to sack his mate Allardyce. No hiding the fact this is a sad day for the club though - the best chairman in the league bar none.
Mikey Delap
Sad to hear the news John Williams was the man that kept it all together during all the problems over the last 10years. I wish him all the best for the future, his experience will be missed.
Fellrunner
i wonder if his son simon will still work there?
LHrover
No surprise to me. he wasn't sat in his usual seat against Tottenham. I thought it may be on the cards. A sad day for the club to have to lose someone who has unselfishly done so much for the club in recent years.
Ewoodrover
It would be nice to have some official comment from the new owners.
Ewoodrover
I am still enraged by his departure after a night sleep. It is disgusting.
DommyWalker
I can't believe that the best chairman in the PL has been let go. Bad news.
BigNumber5
i really hope this isnt true and i hope that someone from venkys see's these posts, jw has been at the heart of the club for years, for him to go completely would be disgusting.
