'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Let's all do the Samba until 2015

Chris Samba has put any move away from Rovers talk to bed by signing a bumper new deal at the club which keeps him at Ewood Park till 2015.

Samba had been close to an exit after signalling his intent to move on after the Sam Allardyce sacking back in September.

But Samba indicated he would see how the transfer window went under the new regime of Venky's and Steve Kean and has now decided that his current club is where his future lies.

Samba told rovers.co.uk - 'It is a good feeling. We have been in discussions for a little time'

'But the way we have played and the players brought in means we are not far off being a top club in the league.'

'I'm in a period of my career where I need to make important choices,' he added.

'I've made the choice to take the challenge to try to take the club as high as possible, to maintain that position and to be recognised as one of the top clubs in the country.'

Steve Kean suffice to say was delighted with the news that his captain has committed to the cause.

Steve told the Rovers official website - 'This is more great news for us, the fact that he wants to be part of what we are trying to build here is further evidence of the exciting times that lie ahead.

'Chris is a major part of the picture at Rovers and his form has created a lot of interest from around the football world.'

Great news and it shows how convinced the players are now that the dust has settled after an uncertain time...

Brilliant news! Just need to get rid of Julie and sick note and we sorted!

Smashing news. Can finally draw a line under any uncertainty surrounding the club now. Hope he scores against Spurs tonight. 3 points are there for the taking with their little injury crisis unfolding nicely just in time for this game. Fingers crossed.
