'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Kean is a praise machine

Steve Kean was delighted with the Rovers in the 2-0 win over West Brom on Sunday afternoon/evening and has been dishing out praise as if it is going out of fashion on Tuesday morning.

Match winner Junior Hoilett was first on the to do list and rightly picked up a special mention from the boss.

Kean spoke to rovers.co.uk and said - 'We see it every day in training and it's just good that everyone's seeing it on the pitch because he's a quality player and I think he's a match-winner when he's on that form.'

But our Steve wasn't finished there and paid a reference to the massively on form and faultless Paul Robinson for holding up his end of the bargain between the sticks.

Kean commented - 'I think we played some nice stuff. There were key moments in the game, especially from Paul Robinson keeping us in it at times, but I thought overall we were good value for the three points.'

And finally, where would we be in life without some sort of mention for debut boy Jermaine Jones (or Double J as I am now calling him) after the American put in a destructive performance in the holding role in midfield.

Kean continued - 'He's not even fully fit. He has not played for a number of weeks but he's got everything. I tried to say to him at the end, 'just save your legs a little bit', but he finds that difficult, he wants to tackle and join in.

'His passing and the way he kept the ball for us as well was fantastic. He was a 10million player before his last injury and, with his performance here and another couple of games under his belt, I think he'll be fantastic for us.'

So it's fair to say that Kean is in a good mood this morning?

Difficult not to be pleased this morning, this new style of play makes the games more exciting but with Hoilett and Olsson in fine form it makes us dangerous...

do you blame him? great result, great performance, and a new contract....kean is ontop of the world!

Its all rosey at rovers at the moment and all credit to Kean - he is slowly changing the style and we look dangerous and the new loan signings looked good. keep up the good work !!

first game i've been able to watch since big sam left. what a difference. i haven't heard the crowd that loud in a while.

I havn't been able to get to a game this season studying in Sheffield, but under Keans style i actually WANT to now. I used to love going to matches under Hughes when we were dangerous and entertaining, we look to be back to that again... no one likes watching long ball even if it does work occasionally.

I think Steve Kean is winning us all over. As I was at the game I didn't here the comments on Sky and was disappointed to miss Big Sam's comments. Did anyone hear them? What comments did he make? I recall him saying that Kean should not have been offered the job.

those players were tremendous indeed. as for kean, i am still withholding my judgment for him. our football is certainly more attractive, but we have only beaten opponents that are far inferior at the moment and have yet to show we are able to grind out results.

I agree DW - but we beat them and chalked up more points on the board. Jones looks a good signing and playing with the young, pacey wingers is always a winner in my book.

Been a while since iv commented on the website but iv been following fings closely and so far kean is looking gd but the next 3 games will really show if he has it and we cant really complain abt him hes got us 2 gd signings albeit on loan bth have long term options and we r 7TH in the league:D
