Kean Signs New Deal

Steve Kean has signed a new deal as manager until 2013.

Kean who was previously only contracted until the end of the season, has got his first longterm contract as a manager.

Kean expressed his delight on The Rovers official website:

'I am delighted to commit my future to Rovers at the start of what I see as a massively exciting new era for the club.

'The owners have shown great faith in me and I will do all I can to repay them.

'This is a great opportunity for me and I intend to grasp it with both hands.'

Anuradha Desai said:

'We have great confidence in Steve, someone who impresses us with his work ethic, enthusiasm, positivity and football philosophy,'

'We feel that the playing squad is in very safe and capable hands and we look forward to working with him.

'Stability is very important to us and this contract is further evidence of our desire to achieve such stability at the club.'

I know Kean has mixed support in the Rovers ranks, but I guess now he is going nowhere.

Time to back him and his style and give him time to put his stamp on the team I guess!

Quick on the draw 23! Dare I say this is a good decision?
Mikey Delap
Some attractive football being shown, a couple of good signings, plus he seems to say all the right things. This could turn out to be a real positive move for us.
RoverKyle7
Well he's done a decent job IMO so far, so I do hope it goes well for him and he takes us forward. Just hope he's good enough to attract some top players that we'll need to do it.
ITSALLROVER
Yep he's done OK so far and he's got my full backing. To be honest the results have improved quicker that I thought they would as it was a real mess when BS was sacked.
fransavarese
still not sure if he has done enough to warrant the extension...
DommyWalker
I think this is a good decision, we need a good BRITISH manager to take us forward and so far he has done a decent job. Just needs to improve on consistancy!
marshinrover
I would say that is a good move, he plays football and the team seem to be working well and with enthusiasm. From reports there are some good players in view so all looks well and a steady finish this year, kick on next. Anyone know what has happened to John Williams, seems very quite and not in evidence anywhere?
taurus1530
At least it brings a bit of stability to things, we no longer have a caretaker and he does seem to know what he is doing despite early protests!
Mikey Delap
Good move overall as brings stability to the club, has had some good results and playing far nicer football than under Sam, Steve can now plan for the future with confidence which can only be a benefit to the club!

It was on the cards as soon as he was appointed, and He is doing ok, the players appear to have responded to him, which is good enough for me

It's too early to extend his contract, should had waited end of season, as they said earlier.
