Riquelme is the potential big signing

Seems like another big chase is on the cards as Argentine superstar Juan Riquelme is being lined up as the box office signing that the Venkys gang are after.

The agent who has sorted out the Jermaine Jones deal and is linig up the Formica purchase has been a busy little beaver and Riquelme has now been touted as the man to replace Ronaldinho as the Rovers 'marquee' purchase.

Agent Barry McIntosh is quoted in the Lancashire Telegraph as saying - "I have spoken with Jerome Anderson, who is doing a lot of work for Blackburn Rovers, about Riquelme and it is being thought about. He could prove a great alternative to Ronaldinho, but there is nothing definite yet."

Riquelme has previously played for Barcelona but now plays in his homeland for Boca Juniors.

Two outcomes here - universal mockage as the deal falls flat or looks of shock and awe as we pull of a massive coup.

Please don't sign him. He is past it and this would be a complete waste of money. Instead spend the money on Formica, Larsson, Adam et al.

If he were to prove to be as good as Salgado he would be a great signing. The new owners appear to be putting their money where their mouths are so we should not begrudge them the marquee signing they crave to publicise their team in their homeland and the rest of the world. If it were to happen it would be a major coup for Rovers.

Obviously you don't know who Riquelme is (no offense meant). Juan was a major flop at Barcelona and dropped out of Villarreal squad after constantly moaning how homesick he is. His work rate is below average, he has talent and skills but also he is very lazy and unmotivated, he would surely ruin the team morale. Ronaldinho, Riquelme... after these names I am starting to get really worried about the new owners.

Dont think this one will happen, and all sources suggest he has been offered to us, and not we are chasing him

JC is spot on, multi talented can't be arsed kinda player that will be a world beater one week then will do nothing for months. Please do not give this ultra ego one last massive pay day, he will affect team morale and provide little input once the initia;gloss has worn off

I would love to see a big named player sign at rovers but he must be a part of the setup somone with a similar attitude to salgado who is willing to give all he has for the club then only will the club benefit frm a big marquee signing
