Rovers close in on Jones

Rovers have followed up their earlier capture of former player Roque Santa Cruz by agreeing a deal for Germany based American midfielder Jermaine Jones.

It seems a few teams have expressed an interest in the man in question but Rovers seem to have wrapped up a loan deal with an option to purchase should the need arise.

Skysports is reporting - 'Blackburn have agreed a deal with Schalke for midfielder Jermaine Jones.

The 29-year-old American international, who has also played for Germany, looks to be on his way to Ewood Park.

Blackburn are believed to have made an approach to his club Schalke earlier this week, and now the deal is all but done.

Skysports.com understands that the two clubs have agreed terms, with Blackburn looking likely to sign him on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

The player is now due to travel to England over the weekend when he will finalise a move.

A number of other Premier League clubs are understood to have expressed an interest in the defensive midfielder, who missed all of last season with a muscle injury.

Jones, who has three-and-half years left on his current deal, has fallen out of favour with coach Felix Magath.'

Felix Magath? Awesome name.

Sneaky work indeed...

From football manager he seems quite a good player.. in the Jermaine Jenas sort of mold.. I'd quite like a perm move though.. not all these loan players..

Injured all season + American/German? Sounds like the USA version of Owen Hargreaves...lol. Injury in mind I think a loan might be the best option.

Another injury prone player on loan, must be SEM group's advice again.

Give him a chance guys!!! lol

Do we really need another defensive midfield player, Nzonzi, Grella, Linganzi (I know we loaned him out) Goulon, Jones, Andrews, Lowe also Emerton can play that position if the rest are all knackered. A creative midfielder would be a far better bet in my mind, Krancjar springs to mind. Doesn't play much at Spurs and he is a great passer of the ball and he weighs in with a few goals

I am also very sceptical that we are interested in an injured, relatively unkown SEM represented player that missed a whole season. Guess he'll be good company for our own sick, lame and lazy

totally with blue n white. not sure why we need another defensive midfielder. i guess more SEM players never hurt.

To be fair he was voted on the top 5 midfielders in the Bundesliga last season but one ago!

its a loan, so no gamble, and he has experience something we are lacking due to injuries
