Rovers take the lead in Larsson race?

Blackburn Rovers seem to have beaten off two North East clubs in the chase to land Birmingham wing wizard Seb Larsson.

Larsson has long been linked with Rovers over the last few windows but nothing concrete has come of it... until now seemingly.

Newcastle and Sunderland were believed to be hot on the heels but news that surfaced last night indicates that Blackburn are his preferred destination.

But the key bit is whether he will come now as both club and player seem to be happy to wait until his contract ends in the summer.

Alan Nixon has reported in the Daily Mirror - 'Blackburn boss Steve Kean has won the race for Birmingham winger Sebastian Larsson - but is willing to wait until summer to clinch the deal.

Kean wants the Swede, and his chances were boosted when Larsson turned down offers from both Newcastle and Sunderland.

Larsson has told pals he fancies the move to Rovers, but is prepared to hold on until his contract expires to put pen to paper.

Rovers are also happy to sit it out, leaving Birmingham manager Alex McLeish with a major problem as he has already brought in David Bentley from Tottenham on loan to fill the position.'

From what I have seen he looks classy player and if we can score him for free then that would be a shrewd move!

hes played well in all the years hes been at brum, hes a good player and can score freekicks. not unlike MGP

Would be a good addition to the club with his set piece delivery. Santa Cruz looks certain to come back now and he scored headers for fun so this signing makes perfect sense.

not really itssallrover....santa is here til end of season, unless we snap up larsson now, they wont play together! lol....send a cheeky 750k bid in....do brum really want to keep a player who wants out and lose him for free!
sasman
I have read Santa will sign permanatly if he stays fit. Sure he would want to as well getting 1st team football most weeks

Not sure about Larsson, He was good a couple of seasons back, but In games I have watched recently he don't appear the same player. But he is still quite young and if the price is right we may be able to get a bargain that can re-discover the form of old
glen9mullan
would be ideal if we could loan him til the end of the season, but i dont see birmingham being that generous

Good point SAS I kind of overlooked that point.. lol. I agree if we want Larsson we may as well nab him now on the cheap. I think Santa Cruz will be snapped up in the summer if he stays fit and scores a few.

Stephen Warnock is better..
metalrover
He wasn't in the squad today but Villa and Sunderland want him according to Sky Sports.
