Formalities over as Ronaldinho returns to Brazil

Rovers have learnt the formality that they won't be signing Ronaldinho this morning and his destination of choice is Brazilian side Flamengo.

Rovers put in an ambitious bid for the Brazilian legend but the move faltered after the two time World player of the year declared he wanted to return to Brazil.

Goal.com are reporting - 'Flamengo have confirmed via their official website that they have signed Ronaldinho on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

AC Milan - Ronaldinho's former club - will be paid €3 million (£2.49m) for the transfer, and the 30-year-old will earn a €130,000 (£108,000) a week wage, which is expected to be partly paid by investors Traffic and Olympikus.

President Patricia Amorim revealed the club remained competitive throughout the negotiations, and are delighted to announce their new signing.

'We have the pleasure of announcing the presence of Ronaldinho for the next four years,' the president told a press conference. 'Flamengo had the grace to stay competitive throughout negotiations, but still work hard.'

Back to more realistic targets then?

Was a bit audacious to say the least. Now let's draw a line under it and move on by signing some decent players before the window runs out please!
