Man City seem to have put a block on Roque Santa Cruz's return to Blackburn until the Rovers agree to buy him at the end of the season, the Daily Mirror is reporting.

Santa himself is keen for a trip down memory lane and a return to the club he left for Eastlands only 18 months ago for the frankly ludicrous fee of £17 million.

But City have a few options of who to palm the rather handsome chap off to so this could drag on for a little bit.

The sticking point has arisen as Rovers boss Steve Kean is reluctant to take the player back full-time and has even expressed a desire to do a wage-share deal once City have exhausted their other options ala Craig Bellamy.

Mikey, lad, this was a great bit of business for Blackburn. He was injured when he came, thinks he's injured all the time (a la Louis Saha) and is frankly ...rubbish. Still I was delighted to see Benjani get a couple of goals for you against the mickey mousers

Ha ha! Nice try Ped!!!

He was decent for us on his day but far too many injuries follow him round and unless it's a bargain price+wages I would sooner have Osvaldo or Robbie Keane.

Better not to bring Santa Cruz back, remember some good days he had with us, but let those remain as good old memories...
