'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Kean does some Benjani cheerleading

Rovers boss Steve Kean has backed Benjani to go on a run of form after his impressive display against Liverpool on Wednesday.

The Zimbabwean man who loves to point at things bagged two goals and did some sterling work on and off the ball to make the Rovers faithful sit up and take notice.

Kean for one was impressed and in that soft Scottish accent he made a point of highlighting the work of the scraggly haired one.

Kean told rovers.co.uk - 'It was not only the finish from Benjani, he showed great awareness and his overall hold-up play was good'

'He has had a tough time with injury and a few of weeks ago we didn't think he was fit enough to last so we put him gradually into games.

'But he showed, up until the last 10 minutes when he hit a little bit of a wall, he is certainly ready and he has a big impact to give to the team from the start of the game not just as a sub.

'He is a great player and has great awareness of where the central defenders are and if you asked the Liverpool centre-halves if they had an easy night against Benjani and (Mame Biram) Diouf they had a real tough evening. That can only be good for us.'

Will be interesting to see who the preferred front two is when Niko and Jason get back from suspension/injury!!!

Id say go with the same line up as after Wednesday night they deserve it, the others can sit on the bench.

Benjani is a much better finisher than Niko, baby Diouf or Jason Roberts, however his work rate is not normally comparable, however against Liverpool he took his chances and put a proper shift in.................respect!

City fans i know always said he worked his socks off... maybe he hasnt at Rovers as he wasnt fit and now he is. I reckon he could be a real find for the rest of the season and score another 10+ goals.
