Samba stripped of the armband

Steve Kean has taken the club captaincy off of want away centre back Chris Samba.

Samba vented his annoyance at Sam Allardyce's removal from the Ewood Park hot seat a last week and with Kean hoping to spread positive vibes he felt it was best to take the honour off of someone who has expressed his desire to leave.

The captain's job is now back with former bearer Ryan Nelsen and Kean is hoping the move coupled with the news of money to spend on 'quality signings' will encourage the man known as Kong to stay at the club.

Will it work though or has the damage been done?

I can see this annoying him more than anything else personally?!

It was the right decision, despite things not looking rosey at present we can't have players captaining the team who have publically spoken of their desire to leave

Right decision there, can't have a captain out there who himself is unsettled, expecting him to lead and motivate the rest. If Samba leaves, we'll be in BIG BIG trouble...

Agreed - when things are going badly, you don't want your captain talking about jumping ship, you want him to rally the troops.

Has Kean actually said that Samba isn't captain anymore cos I don't think he has played since he made his comments so we can only know for sure when he returns to action.
