'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Venkys to tell Sam they will spice things up

Rovers new owners want the side to start playing with some style and art, not just grinding out points.

The new Rovers leading lady Anurahda Desai has expressed her desire for the club to drop the more renowned Big Sam style and to get the ball on the deck.

Apparently it isn't just about winning.

Desai told the Lancashire Telegraph - "I am going to speak to the manager soon and tell him that the fans` opinions are very important.

"We should go up in the rankings but playing well is not just about winning. I am going to convey that to him. The way we play is vital.

"We are not interested in the past and we are only thinking of the future."

From their point of view it makes good sense to express this to Allardyce.

If the new owners want to win over new fans, particularly those in India, then the sight of Keith Andrews aiming up field and launching a ball towards Jason Roberts doesn't seem the best way to do it.

Looks like the manager might need to raise his game here.

With the arrival of new players in Jan it could mean a more fan friendly approach to games... or is that just wishful thinking?!

hmmm, will they sack him if he says no? things to think about this morning.

I think we have to give Sam the rest of the season and half of next to at least show us. The thing is unless the right amount of money is spent on real hit-the-ground-running quality in January then I'd much prefer to have the football we are playing right now and being safe in the prem. Rather that than trying to change the style half way through the season and losing all the time no matter how nice the football is.

can't see Samuel being too happy about this. every manager has his own style and he would be well out of his comfort zone trying to outplay the likes of arsenal on the ground.

At least they are making the right noises hey?

Said from the start.. the reason its 5m in January is they don't want to give BFS a lot of money to buy his kind of player.. keep us top 10 this season.. and in the summer more will follow.. with a new man in charge I think.. MON?

honestly, winning is more important than styles. the way we played the last few games is indeed the mix of short and long balls tactics that Big Sam claims we played at the beginning of the season. we can't be more entertaining because we don't have the players for it, but i'm happy with the styles given the way things are.

Points mean prizes and if the team performs consistantly by its budget then Sam has no worries. Football is a results game and sexy football has seen bigger managers than sam fall at other clubs, I will just settle for results

This is the biggest hint from the new owners to Big Sam, his days are numbered...

Let Sam manage the football - Venky just manage the club and finances! Sam has done right by us and improved our results. If we go back to the wanting attractive football it could cost us - remember Ince and his flair football crusade? We loved it when Ince said it, but then we wanted him out as we were losing. Lets establish ourselves as top ten material then play with more expression. Winning football is always attractive - look at what Hughes did with us, hard, defenders, rough play - got us into Europe - we all loved him! I can't stand it when the club owners think they know more than the manager. If there was a better manager available who is proven at creating winning attractive football then give Sam the threat - if not don't bother!
