Kean is keen and signs new deal at Ewood

Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jake Kean has signed a new deal that will keep him at Blackburn until 2014.

The young lad is actually with Hartlepool on loan at this present time but has done well enough there to earn him a new deal at the club.

Jake is in a long line of good Rovers goalies and looks set to follow Frank Fielding in being a serious contender for the number one jersey in a few years time.

Jake spoke to Rovers.co.uk - 'It is brilliant. It's a dream come true. I thought my first professional contract would be at Derby County, but Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League - it doesn't get much better than that. (Well said Jake!)

'This is my dream job. This is what I have wanted to do ever since I was a young boy. Since I left school, I couldn't see myself doing anything else.

'It's brilliant to be working with the likes of Paul Robinson, Mark Bunn and Frank Fielding. They give you great advice.

'It is a great experience at Hatrlepool, going out and playing league games and finding out what it is like to be a senior player around the first team.

'They've not got any other keepers so I really have been thrown in at the deep, but I'm enjoying it.'

Nice to see indeed...

Maybe it is just me but don't we have too many goal keepers? Robinsen, Brown, Bunn, Fielding, and this guy Jake - and in the academic Dilo, Urwin. Maybe not, just thinking we don't need Brown and Bunn......
